It is a great time for all Assassin’s Creed Shadows players because Ubisoft has finally announced the release date for the much-awaited Clans of Awaji DLC in their latest Summer Roadmap Update Trailer. The promised expansion is set to bring fresh new content to the table, adding around 10 more hours of runtime. The noteworthy additions are the Island of Awaji, a new faction, along with many more new gear, cosmetic items, and abilities.

Players who pre-ordered AC Shadows will get the DLC for free, while those who did not will have to pay for it. Here are the further details.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji DLC Release Date Revealed

Ubisoft has revealed that the Claws of Awaji DLC for Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be officially released on September 16, 2025. The developers mentioned from the beginning that the first expansion for the game would be free for players who pre-ordered the game.

The Claws of Awaji picks up the story from the original campaign and brings the Island of Awaji to the world of Shadows, alongside new bosses and a faction named the Senzoku Ippa. We have seen glimpses of this new mysterious enemy group in the Roadmap Update Trailer, stalking the trees of a dense forest. However, Ubisoft has not disclosed any additional information about them, except for the fact that they will be constantly tracking and hunting our two protagonists.

Furthermore, in the expansion pack, Naoe and Yasuke will enter the new island to find a lost treasure while Japan’s fate hangs in the balance. Accomplishing the task, however, won’t be easy. The lands of Awaji will be riddled with traps and enemies prepared to ambush you at any moment. To even the battlefield, players will receive various new gear and abilities as well, so fighting off the Senzoku Ippa won’t be too difficult.

Claws of Awaji Editions and Price Explored

Claws of Awaji is a DLC. Thus, it does not have different editions with separate sets of perks that players can choose from. However, Ubisoft has made it clear that the only difference is that players who pre-ordered the game will receive the expansion for free, while the rest will have to pay for it.

As for the price, the publisher has not yet disclosed a specific number for the Claws of Awaji despite its release date being less than two months away. Many fans have theorized the price tag to be around $20, but it is speculation at best and can vary significantly since Ubisoft has shown a bold approach to its pricing policy in the past.

New Game Plus Is Also Coming to Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The roadmap revealed that, in addition to the DLC, Ubisoft will also release a progression update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on July 29, 2025. It will introduce a New Game Plus mode with rewards, which players will be able to enjoy from the moment they complete the main story.

In addition to that, the level cap will also increase from 60 to 80, adding further options for hideout upgrades and increasing the max Knowledge Rank from 9 to 10. The third “Animust project” will also appear. This will allow players to receive more rewards for completing daily missions.

Further down the line, the developers will also add some quality-of-life improvements to the game in September, including better fog clearing on the world map, the ability to fast-forward the time of day, and an option to uncap frame rates during cutscenes.
