The new Assassin’s Creed Shadows Ultra Low mode reduces the minimum system requirements, and low-end setups can also play the game now.

The latest Title Update 1.0.6 in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is adding some major content, including new missions and a new ally. However, it is also adding a new Ultra Low mode on PC, which will allow systems with lower-end GPUs to play the game. Previously, you needed at least 8 GB VRAM to qualify for the minimum system requirements, with the value going up as you aim for higher performance.
With the new Title Update 1.0.6, even 4 GB cards should be able to run Assassin’s Creed Shadows, although only if it’s a 1650 (from Nvidia). In this article, we will take a look at the new lowest system requirements for AC Shadows.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Ultra Low Mode System Requirements For PC
According to the patch notes, here are the new lowest system requirements for Assassin’s Creed Shadows that will allow you to play in Ultra Low mode:
- Resolution: 1080p at 30 FPS
- Visual Settings: Ultra Low Mode
- CPU: Intel Core i7 8700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 4GB / AMD RX 5500XT 8GB / Intel Arc A380 6GB (Rebar on)
- RAM: 16 GB Dual-channel Configuration
- OS: Windows 10/11 with DirectX 12
- Storage: SSD
Ultra Low Mode in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Explained

From the new minimum system requirements listed above, it is evident that the GPU performance, in particular, has been optimized. For Nvidia cards, the minimum has gone down to 4 GB from 8 GB VRAM. Similarly, Intel graphics cards now need 6 GB minimum VRAM instead of the previous 8 GB requirement. In case you use an AMD graphics card, you will unfortunately still need 8 GB VRAM to run the game.
The 8 GB VRAM requirement was a universal minimum requirement to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows initially. Most budget setups do not meet this threshold, which means the title remained inaccessible for many gamers. In particular, low-end gaming laptops very frequently run the GTX 1650 card, despite having much superior processors and other specifications. Now, with the new ultra-low mode, most low-end PC gamers will be able to run the game.

In particular, budget gaming laptop owners will benefit the most from the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Ultra Low mode. As mentioned before, budget laptops within the $500 range frequently use the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650. As such, these setups should be able to run the game without massive performance issues.
At the same time, older-generation or low-tier gaming PCs with 10-series GPUs will also be able to now play Assassin’s Creed Shadows easily. 4 GB of VRAM is fairly common, although the 900-series Nvidia GPUs might still face problems.
On the other hand, if you use AMD graphics cards, the Ultra Low mode does not really do anything specific for you. You will still need at least 8 GB VRAM on any AMD card to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
