While the Assassin’s Creed series never truly started out as an RPG, the series has dipped its toes into the genre over the last few entries. Assassin’s Creed Shadows reflects this shift by giving you full freedom over your character, especially in the way you dress them.

You play through the game, and you unlock progressively cooler and flashier armor sets. It gets to a point where these armor sets can be a little distracting to look at, and maybe you just want to hide them without losing any of the benefits they provide. Thankfully, Assassin’s Creed Shadows lets you hide your armor, or change its appearance entirely using the transmog feature.

If you want to hide your armor or hood but don’t know how to, we have you covered. In this guide, we shall go over how to hide your armor Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Before you can get to transmogging and hiding armor in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you first need to unlock the Hideout and Blacksmith first. Follow the steps below to unlock the transmog ability in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

  • To unlock the Hideout, you first need to play through the prologue section of the game, towards the end of which you will unlock the Hideout at Tomiko’s residence.

  • With this prerequisite met, you then need to find a Blacksmith to tinker with your armor. Tomiko will give you the “Way of the Blacksmith.” Complete this quest to unlock the Blacksmith Heiji.

  • With Heiji unlocked, head back to the Hideout and draft a Forge within the premises. You will need 40x Crops, 30x Wood, and 10x Minerals to do so, so make sure that you have the necessary materials. Once your Forge is in place at the Hideout, talk to Heiji, who will then inform you of the transmog ability, thereby unlocking it.

  • You can then use the transmog ability anytime from your inventory. To hide your armor, select the piece you wish to hide and press R2/RT to toggle armor display on/off. Doing so will hide the armor without taking away the stat advantages it gives.
