In this guide, we shall go over how to beat the Chromatic Greatsword Cultist in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 routinely throws bosses at you, each with the intention of testing your mastery of the mechanics. What the Chromatic Greatsword Cultist tests, however, is your patience. This boss has a long combo that seems to never end and is worsened by a jump attack that always seems to land a second faster than you’d think it would.
Found in Sirene, the Chromatic Greatsword Cultist is a tricky boss to beat, and if you’re struggling to beat her, we’re here to help. In this guide, we shall go over how to beat the Chromatic Greatsword Cultist in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

How To Defeat Chromatic Greatsword Cultist in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Right off the bat, the Chromatic Greatsword Cultist pulls out her greatsword and stabs herself with it, covering it in blood. She then pulls it out, swinging it into the air and swinging it right at you for a six-hit combo. The first slash comes from your left, after which she swings back from your right. She then spins all the way and slashes from the right once again. You have to parry the first two and jump over the third. After the third, she slashes once again from the left, then right, and right again.
The aforementioned attack is fairly easy to manage as long as you don’t fumble the jump in the middle. Watch for the jump in the middle and parry the rest to counter this attack. We recommend bringing an Augmented Counterattack Pictos for this fight to deal greater damage on counterattacks.
The second attack you need to watch for is her jump attack. The boss jumps straight into the air, spinning her sword, and crashing right at you. This might be a bit tricky to parry. When she’s in the air, keep an eye on her spin. Press the parry button just as she’s about to complete her spin. You’ll instantly counter the attack, dealing damage.
When dealing offense, using Dark-based damage is your best bet against this boss. We highly recommend bringing in Sciel for this fight. She excels at Dark-based damage and will shred through this boss with the extra Foretell-based damage. We also suggest bringing in Maelle and using her Breaking Rules to cut through the boss’ shield.
