ESO: Macabre Vintage Explained With How to Get Instructions

Macabre Vintage

Macabre Vintage Features and Set Bonuses in ESO:

  • Name: Macabre Vintage
  • Type: Overland
  • Available Armor Weight: Medium Armor, Jewelry, Weapons
  • Location: West Weald
  • Requires DLC: Gold Road Chapter
  • Armor Set bonuses (Level 50 – CP 160):
    • 2 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
    • 3 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
    • 4 items: Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
    • 5 items: Adds 150 Weapon and Spell Damage, When you kill a monster it bursts with blood magic, dealing 50% of its Max Health to enemies within 6 meters as Bleed Damage, up to 24,096 Bleed Damage. This damage cannot critically strike. This effect can occur once every 0.5 seconds.

In ESO (The Elder Scrolls Online), the Macabre Vintage set offers five set bonuses based on Weapon and Spell Damage, and it belongs to the medium armor category. If you are wearing 2 to 4 items from this set each additional piece will add 129 Weapon and Spell Damage to your build.

Furthermore, the final 5-piece item will add a more generous 150 Weapon and Spell Damage. Additionally, the 5-piece bonus will allow you to deal extra Bleed damage when killing an enemy. This damage can hit a group of nearby mobs within 6 meters of you for up to an additional 24,096 Bleed Damage. However, this number is a hard cap because it cannot critically strike, and it can only occur every half second.

Macabre Vintage Set Proc in Elder Scrolls Online

Triggering the Macabre Vintage set bonus is very simple, and is a basic part of ESO gameplay: Kill things. When a monster dies, this will trigger an area-of-effect burst of Bleed Damage to all other enemies in a 6-meter radius.

How to Use Macabre Vintage Set in PvE and PvP?

The great thing about the Macabre Vintage is the ease of triggering the 5-piece bonus. Any player can put this set on and easily trigger the AOE effect, and therefore probably wipe out mobs of enemies. This could potentially be a new meta set for PvE scenarios, but will likely have no effect in PvP.

PvE

The Macabre Vintage is a great medium armor set that has the potential to replace Plaguebreak as the fastest new way to level up in ESO. The massive AOE Bleed Damage you trigger can decimate large groups of enemies. Therefore, this makes it a great option for players looking to level new characters. Whether you’re running instances of Skyreach Catacombs, grinding mobs in Spellscar, or blasting mobs in public dungeons, the Macabre Vintage set is going to run up the XP numbers quickly!

PvP

The 5-piece tooltip for the Macabre Vintage set specifically states “When you kill a monster…”. This is very specific terminology in ESO and applies to NPC enemies. This is separate from the term ‘player’, which the developers typically use when talking about kills in PvP combat. Therefore, this set will likely not trigger at all in Battlegrounds. Additionally, while it could technically trigger in Cyrodiil, it would require that you drag an overland NPC enemy into an alliance fight. Not impossible, but very unlikely to happen often.

It’s a bit more possible in Imperial City, where there are large numbers of monsters wandering around the zones. However, the extra effort would be a pain, and other sets would net you better DPS rewards.

How to Get the Macabre Vintage Set in ESO?

How to Get to West Weald Zone ESO - Elder Scrolls Online

West Weald overland bosses, public dungeons, world events, and treasure chests can drop Macabre Vintage set armor, weapons, and jewelry. Here are instructions on how to obtain all items from the ESO Macabre Vintage set:

  • Delve bosses – Waist and Feet
  • World bosses – Head, Chest, Legs, and Weapons
  • Public dungeon – Shoulders, Hands, and Weapons
  • Dark Anchors – Rings and Necklaces
  • World Events – Rings and Necklaces
  • Treasure Chest – Rings and Necklaces

Moreover, if a zone does not have any public dungeons, then the Shoulders, Hands, and Weapons will drop from other mentioned sources. Finally, if a zone does not have Dark Anchors, then Rings and Necklaces will drop from equivalent world events. And if those world events don’t exist, then those pieces can drop from treasure chests instead.

Finally to collect the pieces of the Mecabre Vintage set you MUST have the Gold Road Chapter. This chapter launches in June of 2024 and must be purchased separately. It will not become a DLC (and therefore available through an ESO+ subscription) until at least a year has passed.
