How To Beat Genzaburo (Genzaburo’s Soldiers) in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Learn Genzaburo’s location and his move set to defeat him and complete Genzaburo’s Soldiers quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Genzaburo is the leader and the final target of the Genzaburo’s Soldiers organization. In his quest for revenge against Beesho Harumasa (The Ox), he kills civilians and even injures his former comrade, Koshiro. After you assassinate all four of his men, Koshiro tells Naoe about his whereabouts but regrets being unable to join her due to his injuries.

Genzaburo Location in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Koshiro gives Naoe the following information about Genzaburo’s location:

• Genzaburo is in Harima.
• He is in northeastern Himeji.
• He operates out of Zuiganji Temple.

Zuiganji Temple is located northeast of Himeji. Fast-travel to the Himeji Kakurega and begin moving directly north. After you cross the northeastern bridge leading out of the city past Fabric Row, ignore the fork in the road and keep heading straight. Climb the boundary wall of Zuiganji Temple. Inside, you will find Genzaburo training in the courtyard.

How To Beat Genzaburo in AC Shadows

Genzaburo presents a unique challenge in the quest. Unlike his men, he cannot be killed using stealth outright. You must approach and talk to Genzaburo, and the conversation will end with blades being drawn. The old sensei is a resilient opponent and can chain long combos together to deal devastating damage. It is important to learn his moves in order to defeat him.

Attack	Description	Counter
Ascending and Descending Cut (Red)	An upward slash followed by a spinning downward cut. Sometimes, the move stops after the first slash	Dodge as soon as you see Genzaburo pull his sword back into a horizontal position with a red circle appearing on it.
Overhead Chops (Blue)	Three overhead chopping attacks followed by a horizontal slash	Prepare to parry or dodge when Genzaburo raises the katana above his head, and a blue circle appears around it.
Lunging Slash (Red)	Kicks after a very brief wind-up and follows it up with a powerful downward slash	Genzaburo raises his sword behind his head. A red circle appears on his foot before he kicks. Dodge and then attack while he is off balance.

Defeating Genzaburo will reward you with 2,000 XP, two Mastery Points, Tactician’s Steel – Epic Long Katana, Archery Range Outdoor Cosmetic, Adrenaline on Consecutive Kills Engraving, and 290 Mon.
