How To Beat Itakura Shigezo (The Betrayers) in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Ambush Itakura Shigezo at the Himeji brewery and eliminate him in Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ The Betrayers questline.

Itakura Shigezo is one of seven targets in Yasuke’s The Betrayers quest. Shigezo’s betrayal contributed to the downfall of Oda Nobunaga, Yasuke, and Hori Hidemasa’s lord. Hidemasa provides Yasuke with information about all seven targets, but the intelligence he eventually gathers on Shigezo proves to be incredibly useful. Assassinating him will earn you 2,000 XP, 2 Mastery Points, and the Samurai Damimyo—Epic Armor.

Itakura Shigezo Location in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Itakura Shigezo lives in the city of Himeji in Harima province. Hori Hidemasa furbishes you with the following intel of his whereabouts: 

• He is in Harima
• He works in Himeji Castle
• He spends nights at a Himeji brewery

Since Himeji Castle is well-defended, ambushing Itakura Shigezo at Himeji Brewery after sundown is a better choice for a seamless assassination. Facing Shigezo at the brewery will ensure that he is alone, allowing you to fight him one-on-one or assassinate him instantly. 

You can choose Naoe or Yasuke for this mission and complete it without a hitch. Naoe’s agility and stealth skills make her ideal for an undetected kill, while Yasuke’s brute strength and personal vendetta will be fitting for a confrontation. Himeji is situated near the western border of the map, west of Amagasaki in Izumi Settsu. 

Himeji Brewery lies directly south of Himeji Castle and north of Himeji Guild Storage. The closest fast-travel location to the Himeji brewery is the Saifukuji Temple viewpoint. After fast-traveling, cross the street to the east and approach the brewery. 

How To Assassinate Itakura Shigezo

You will find Itakura Shigezo lounging on the railing outside the brewery. You can sneak up behind him for a clean assassination. Alternatively, you can challenge him to a fair fight. Shigezo dual-wields knives and should be relatively easy to beat as he does not wear armor.

Despite his lack of protective gear, Shigezo’s speed and throwing knives can catch unprepared players off guard. During the fight, he tries to defend his moral ground by stating that he was just following orders when he betrayed Oda Nobunaga. However, there is no option to spare Shigezo, and you must eliminate him.
