How To Beat Marume Nagayoshi (Nobutsuna’s Students) in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Marume Nagayoshi is one of Nobutsuna Sensei’s disciples in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and you must fight him in Nobutsuna’s Students quest.

The Nobutsuna’s Students in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a side questline that will test your skills against various skilled warriors. It is a great addition to the game because it helps players with their progression while adding a lot of depth to Yasuke’s character by introducing his old teacher. In this side quest, you will have to win duels against six students of Nobutsuna Sensei, and Marume Nagayoshi is one of them.

Additionally, despite the simple structure of these missions, finding and winning against the old sensei’s disciples can be hard and tricky at times. That is why, in this article, we will tell you how you can seek out and defeat Marume Nagayoshi in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

How To Find and Defeat Marume Nagayoshi in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Before we get into Marume, first you will need to learn how to start the Nobutsuna’s Students quest. It is quite simple. When the game reintroduces Yasuke for the second time, you will get a personal quest named “An Education.” Then, you will have to travel to the southwestern parts of Azuchi. The players will have to look for Yasuke’s old teacher, Nobutsuna Sensei’s house. Once you finally find and speak to him, he will give you the Nobutsuna’s Students quest.

Track Marume Nagayoshi Down

After that, you will have to speak to him again to start the quest. And once it is activated, your first challenger will be Marume Nagayoshi. In addition to that, you will also notice that this disciple will appear in your objective tab. You can get a general idea of where he might be from the tab; however, we recommend using scouts to make the process less frustrating.

But you won’t need the help of your scouts for Marume because he will be in Azuchi. To find him, from Sensei Nobutsuna’s house, head north towards the Sakoji Temple and then move to Trade Harbor. When you reach the harbor, go to the northeastern part of the area, where you will find Marume Nagayoshi practicing his skills with the sword. Then, you will simply need to speak to him to trigger a cutscene and start the fight.

Win the Duel

During the cutscene, Yasuke and Marume will share a conversation reminiscing about their old days, and then the duel will begin. Nagayoshi’s fighting style is quite similar to the other samurai NPCs in the game, if not identical. He will attack you with some unblockable attacks and quick slashes. At this point in the game, you will already know how to deal with it. Dodge the unblockable strikes when Marume’s sword glows red and parry the quick attacks when the sword glows blue.

Throughout the fight, you will have to keep repeating this pattern while performing your own offensive moves. Eventually, you will be able to deplete Marume Nagayoshi’s health completely, and that will end the duel in your favor.
