How to Beat The Connoisseur (Corrupt Daikan) in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Locate The Connoisseur and learn the cleanest way to eliminate him for the Corrupt Daikan quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Progressing through the main quest line of Assassin’s Creed Shadows unlocks Objective Board missions with several targets to assassinate. The Corrupt Daikan is one such quest that is triggered when you talk to Kuma at Kuma’s Lookout. The Corrupt Daikan consists of six corrupt figures that Kuma asks you to eliminate. 

Among them, Endo Riku, alias The Connoisseur, is perhaps the best-defended target, comfortably enjoying a feast behind several castle walls. The corrupt leader forces locals to pay a hefty tribute in food. Assassinating Endo Riku rewards you with 2,000 XP, 2 Mastery Points, and an Epic weapon. His elimination contributes to completing The Corrupt Daikan quest, which can earn you Minogame’s Protection (Legendary amulet).

Where to Find The Connoisseur in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

To track The Connoisseur, open the Objective Board and select him from The Corrupt Daikan targets. Kuma’s intelligence says that he:

• Is in Wakasa.
• Is in northeastern Sotomo Gate. 
• Feasts in Kanegasaki Castle.

Kanegasaki Castle is located on the northern tip of Wakasa, at the edge of the map. Endo Riku sits at the northwestern end of the castle. 

How to Assassinate The Connoisseur (Endo Riku)

It is inadvisable to fight your way through the front gate of Kanegasaki Castle since it is swarming with guards. Therefore, Naoe is best suited for the mission as she can infiltrate the Castle unseen, assassinate The Connoisseur, and make her escape. Approaching the first checkpoint on the path leading up to the castle, you will find locals lining up ahead with tribute.

Step-by-Step Guide

• Upon reaching the first checkpoint, take the path to the left over a bamboo ramp.
  • Do not climb the scaffolding leading up to a wooden fence, instead, head left around the mountain.
• Running over the rock ledges, you will soon spot a wooden entrance with a torch burning on its left. Enter the castle through it. 
• Sneak into the bush ahead and climb the adjoining tower.
  • Once you’re near the railing, whistle to lure the sentry closer and assassinate him.
• Move to the platform on the opposite side over the rope.
  • You can listen in on the conversation the guards are having below and refill tools.
• Walk over the fallen tree on the left and grapple over to the platform ahead.
• Assassinate the guard in front and climb the hut he was crouched beside.
• Jump onto the wall ahead before climbing the structure on the left.
  • You will be able to see The Connoisseur feasting on the tribute brought.
• Sneak over the wall heading to the right and leap across to the roof of the building ahead. 
• Cross the rope bridge to the platform beside the target. 
• Drop down and assassinate The Connoisseur by sneaking behind him or using the vantage point to headshot him with a throwing knife.

After assassinating The Connoisseur, you complete the mission. Escape the castle using the same route you entered.
