How To Find and Defeat The Two-Faced in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows routinely throws targets at you to assassinate, but very few targets bear as much importance to the plot as the Shinbakufu. This notorious group of masked warriors is responsible for kicking off the main story events of AC Shadows and ties into the backstories of both Naoe and Yasuke. The Two-Faced is one who belongs to this group and must be assassinated. 

Akechi Mitsuhide, The Two-Faced, is one of the 11 main story targets in AC Shadows. He has blood on his hands for murdering Naoe’s father and is also the snake in the grass who betrayed Oda Nobunaga. The wicked murderer must pay for his crimes, and it is up to you to fulfill this task.

Where To Find The Two-Faced in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

The Peasant Who Would Be King

Your hunt for The Two-Faced begins by meeting up with Lady Nene on the outskirts of Kyoto. Head to Ginkakuji Temple, which is east of the city, to talk to Lady Nene. The Lady praises you for your progress thus far, informing you that Mitsuhide has gathered his forces in Shoryuji Castle. She asks you to seek out Lord Hideyoshi, who is readying his forces to siege the castle. With Hideyoshi set to conquer the castle, you have to move quickly before Mitsuhide meets his end and the box is lost. 

Topple the Traitor

Hideyoshi is camped south of Omayazaki Village in Yamashiro. After picking between Naoe and Yasuke, ride out to the lord’s camp and talk to him. The Lord will take you into his ranks, giving you an opening into the castle. A long cutscene will play out, showing Hideyoshi’s forces barging their way into the castle.

How To Defeat The Two-Faced in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

The siege of the castle then kicks off, putting you in the shoes of Yasuke. Tear through the enemy forces and venture upwards into the keep of the castle. You will then be confronted by Mitsuhide himself, who will throw his minions at you and run away. You don’t have to worry about facing the minions, however, as you’ll switch to Naoe, who will chase after the traitor. 

Ride through the emblazoned castle and through Oyamazaki Village to the docks. With his chance to run away right before him, Mitsuhide will have a change of heart and will choose to fight you in a fair manner. This will kick off a fight. 

The Two-Faced has two health bars, and you have to face him across two phases, first with Yasuke and then with Naoe. The boss has a pretty standard moveset of slashes and strikes. He has a downward slash, a diagonal slash, and two side slashes. If you get too aggressive, the traitor will launch sand right at you, leaving you vulnerable to attacks. Dodge these attacks and run in for hits before running back and doing the same. In Phase 2, his moveset remains unchanged, so you can continue with the same approach as Phase 1.
