How To Find and Pray at Takahara Kumano Shrine in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Venture to the southern region of Kii in Assassin’s Creed Shadows to pray at the Takahara Kumano Shrine and reap its rewards.

Takahara Kumano Shrine in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a remote place of worship in Kii, the southernmost region of the map. It sits atop a hill surrounded by valleys, forests, and rivers. Due to its secluded nature, players may overlook the Takahara Kumano Shrine despite being in the region, requiring a dedicated search.

Takahara Kumano Shrine Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Takahara Kumano Shrine is situated in the Nakahechi Route sub-region, just south of Takahara Village. If you haven’t been in the area, that’s probably because it comes into play later in the game for main story missions like Fighting for the Cause.

Once you are at Takahara Village, take the southern road out of it. Instead of turning left and heading down the hill, continue straight, and you will approach the Takahara Kumano Shrine.

As you get close to the Takahara Kumano Shrine, you will spot an orange torii gate with mossy cobblestone steps leading up to the shrine. Pass through the gate and head up the steps to the small shrine on the left. Stop just short of the shrine’s stairs and press the interact button (E on PC) when prompted. Your character will begin praying. Once they are done, head to the next prayer site.

Next, move to the wooden shrine on the right, with shimenawa (sacred ropes) hanging in front of it. Complete your exploration of the Takahara Kumano Shrine by praying before the structure to receive its rewards.

Takahara Kumano Shrine Rewards in AC Shadows

Praying at both sites of Takahara Kumano Shrine rewards you with 550 XP and one Knowledge Point. The shrine gives a marginally higher XP reward than most shrines in the game, which offer 500 XP. Exploring shrines and praying at them is an effective way to raise your Knowledge Rank and unlock higher branches of your Mastery Trees.
