Arcane Ammunition is a weapon action that is only available with this particular crossbow. With it, you infuse your crossbow bolts with arcane energy. Your ranged weapon attacks deal an additional 1d4 Force damage. This action can be used once per Short Rest.
Additionally, proficiency with crossbows also unlocks the typical Piercing Shot found on many ranged weapons, as well as Brace (Ranged). Brace requires that you sacrifice some of your movement, but in return, for the rest of your turn, you will roll ranged damage twice and use the highest result.

How to Get Crossbow of Arcane Force in BG3? Explained
To get the Crossbow of Arcane Force in Baldur’s Gate 3 you’ll need to proceed through most of Act 1 until you are ready to find Crèche Y’llek in the Mountain Pass, make your way inside and find Raider G’r’ath near the quartermaster’s location in the lower southeast side. To find the Creche, you first want to take the Mountain Pass from the main Act 1 map.This new area is still part of Act 1, and not a location you are going to encounter early on.
This new area of the map will lead to Act 2 and the Shadow-Cursed Lands to the west, while the Creche can be found in the other direction. The entrance to the creche is from the Rosymorn Monastery. Additionally, it’s also worth exploring the area and solving ceremonial weapon puzzles to get the Blood of Lathander.
On the east side of the Monastery, jump down from the damaged stairs seen above. From there you’ll find another set of stairs leading to the Creche. The Creche is a decent sized underground area with much to find and additional character story to develop. For the Crossbow of Arcane Force you will want to locate A’jak’nir Jeera the Githyanki quartermaster. She does not have the bow to sell, however, the Raider G’r’ath who does have it should be standing in the same area. You can find the quartermaster in a more cave/cavern like space in the southeast of the Creche.
Find Raider G’r’ath in Crèche Y’llek
You’ll have to get aggressive and attack Raider G’r’ath in order to be able to loot the crossbow. Doing so will also aggro the other githyanki in the area. However, there aren’t that many of them and so long as you keep the fight from spelling over into the main Creche area you should be fine. Be sure to purchase anything you might want from A’jak’nir Jeera first, though! Once you’re ready, initiate combat and as soon as the Githyanki are defeated you can loot the Crossbow of Arcane Force from G’r’ath.
How to Use the Crossbow of Arcane Force in BG3?
The best way to use the Crossbow of Arcane Force in BG3 is by equipping it to classes including Fighters, Rangers, and certain subclasses of Clerics, Paladins, and Bards. All of these will have proficiency in Heavy Crossbows and can access all of the special actions provided. While most of these classes won’t be attacking with ranged weapons primarily, the Crossbow of Arcane Force makes for a great secondary weapon for melee builds in Act 1.
