Devotee's Mace - Baldur's Gate 3 - BG3 Weapon - Legendary Mace

Devotee’s Mace

In Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3), the Devotee’s Mace is a valuable legendary weapon obtainable with a single spell. Suitable for all classes, but it particularly shines when wielded by clerics or Shadowheart, especially when paired with a legendary shield like the Viconia’s Walking Fortress. This legendary mace features a unique class action called Healing Incense Aura. When you wield the weapon in your main hand and activate it, you and nearby allies will steadily regain 1d4 hit points at the beginning of each turn throughout 10 turns.

This powerful healing ability can be a game-changer in keeping you and your party in the fight and is a fantastic addition to the arsenal of any cleric or supporting character in Baldur’s Gate 3, such as a druid or bard. It’s a bonus action that can be combined with an action on the same turn, or you can cast it to prepare and buff the team before the challenging fight. An alternative to this weapon can be the Blood of Lathander, another legendary mace obtainable much earlier at the end of Act 1.

You can equip it to your character’s main hand weapon slot in the inventory, providing additional bonuses and buffs. The user needs Simple weapon proficiency or suffers penalties while wearing the weapon.

How to Get the Devotee’s Mace in Baldur’s Gate 3

Devotee’s Mace can be obtained by having a cleric and casting a Divine Intervention (Arm Thy Servant variant) spell available as soon as your party reaches level 10.

Devotee's Mace in Baldur’s Gate 3 - Legendary Weapon - Cast Divine Intervention spell Arm Thy Servant variant

Divine Intervention is a Cleric Spell that all subclasses receive at level 10. You can cast this spell once per adventure, and it has four variants:

  • Arm Thy Servant: Call upon your deity to grant you a legendary weapon forged in the fires of your holy bond.
  •  Golden Generosity: Call upon your deity to provide you with a rich bounty of potions and Camp Supplies.
  • Opulent Revival: Resurrect fallen companions with half their hit points and restore all nearby allies as if they had Long Rested.
  • Sunder the Heretical: Call upon your deity to bring forth a radiant cataclysm upon all nearby enemies. Deals 8d10 Radiant damage to all enemies within 15m.

Save the Divine Intervention spell and get the mace method

Find a quiet and safe spot, like your camp, and cast the spell. Next, cast the Divine Intervention Arm Thy Servant spell, which is found in the common tab of your Cleric UI, and after a captivating animation, you’ll receive and equip one of the most powerful legendary weapons in BG3 – the Devotee’s Mace.

Any Cleric can perform this, but since it’s a one-time spell with powerful variations, particularly the Sunder the Heretical spell variant, which deals massive damage, you may want to save it as a last resort for more challenging battles. The best approach is to respec one of your other characters into a Cleric. Respec costs only 100 gold using Withers in your camp. It doesn’t matter which companion you pick or which spells or subclass you choose for them because, once they reach level 10, you can cast Divine Intervention, obtain the legendary mace, and respec them back to their previous class. Enjoy the new Legendary weapon, and save the spell on your Shadowheart or main cleric for later use in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Use Hope’s Help in the House of Hope

Another option is to use this spell when you’re in the House of Hope and choose to free Hope from prison. During the battle with Raphael, you will be able to control her, so cast the Divine Intervention spell with her. She will automatically equip the Devotee’s Mace and then throw it on the ground. After the battle, you can pick it up and add the Devotee’s Mace to your legendary Baldur’s Gate 3 weapons collection.
