How To Start the Hunters of Kyonyo Side Quest
The Hunters of Kyonyo is a side quest, that revolves around hunting down a group of bounty hunters targeting Kyonyo. The quest can be initiated by interacting with Kennyo, the father of Kyonyo, at the Fudo-do Temple in Negoroji.
Kennyo explains that Kyonyo has gained several enemies, leading to bounty hunters searching for him across Kii. Once the quest starts, you need to investigate and find five bounty hunters. Defeat all of them and report back to Kyonyo and Kennyo to complete the quest.

How To Defeat Tsuchi-Gumo
While the quest focuses on tracking and slaying bounty hunters across Kii, it highlights the untold bond between a father and a son. Tsuchi-Gumo, the leader of the hunter’s group, kidnaps Kennyo to lure Kyonyo out. Tsuchi-Gumo can be found at the Akagi Fort in Kumano Sanzan.
However, the Akagi Fort is heavily guarded by enemies. You will receive a hint that Tsuchi-Gumo will train alone during the day, providing an opportunity for an easier approach to completing the quest.
Once you reach the main building of the Akagi Fort, use your observation mechanics to pinpoint his location. Defeating Tsuchi-Gumo marks the end of the bounty hunters hunt, and rewards you with the coveted Flowing Peace, a Legendary Long Katana. The weapon enhances your build while offering an engraving perk that removes a Health Segment after an Armor Break.
