In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Helldusk Helmet is a spellcaster armor piece for every class, and you can get it while visiting the House of Hope during Act 3 – this short Guide Explains everything you need to know about the Helldusk Helmet in BG3.
The Helldusk Helmet
In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Helldusk Helmet provides the ability to cast the class action Immolating Gaze. This not only has the potential to Frighten targets, but also causes those with the Burning condition to take more fire damage. This piece has a nice synergy with either the Firebolt cantrip or the Fireball spell, for example. Additionally, this helm protects you from both critical hits and Blindness. It also gives you a +2 bonus to all types of Saving Throws against spells.
You can equip it to your character’s head slot in their inventory, providing these additional bonuses and buffs. There are no requirements for this item. You can equip it on any class, companion, or character.
Here are all the Helldusk Helmet features in BG3:

How to Get Helldusk Helmet in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Helldusk Helmet can be found while visiting/breaking and entering into the House of Hope. When you first arrive a corridor will lead you directly to a likely familiar ‘feast’ laden table. The entrance to the room with the Helldusk Helmet will be directly on the opposite side of the wall with the fireplace. There is no shortcut to this, you’ll need to go either right or left and walk around to the other side.
You’ll need to pass a Perception Check before you can interact with this Gem. There will be two checks – the first is a Wisdom 10 difficulty class check. The second is a much harder Arcana/Intelligence check with a 20 DC. Surprisingly, there is not a need to ‘save scum’ these checks. If you fail, the gem will knock you back, but no alarm is sounded and no physical harm comes to your party.
When you get inside, you’ll find the Helldusk Helm in the large pile of treasure just in front of you. Before leaving, be sure to check out the pedestals – one to the right and the other on the left side of the room – in order to find the Staff of Spellpower and Mol’s Contract.
Other Notable Loot in the House of Hope:
- Helldusk Gloves
- Helldusk Armour
- Staff of Spellpower
- Amulet of Greater Health
- Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength
- Orphic Hammer
- Gloves of Soul Catching
