In Baldur’s Gate 3, The Hellrider Longbow is a fantastic range weapon for every class, and you can get it from Ferg Drogher in Act 3 – this short Guide Explains everything you need to know about the Hellrider Longbow in BG3.
Hellrider Longbow
In Baldur’s Gate 3, The Hellrider Longbow is a range weapon from Ferg Drogher (X:45; Y:-102) in Rivington during Act 3. This weapon’s fantastic +3 initiative bonus makes it one of the best choices as a second weapon for almost any class, including spellcasters. Your character doesn’t suffer any penalties for equipping it, and with high initiative, your character will take advantage of its bonus. You’ll act faster in combat, but don’t need to use the bow.
With the Fiendish Fire bonus, if you hit a creature with this bow, there’s a chance it will be hit by a spell called Faerie Fire. The creature has to make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw to avoid this effect. Faerie Fire can make it easier for you and your allies to hit the affected creature because it marks it for you, and can’t hide.
However, proficiency with Longbows is required to use this weapon, so the Elf race is an excellent choice. Classes that will most benefit from it are Rogue, Ranger, Barbarian, Fighter, or Paladin classes. You can equip it to your character’s main hand weapon slot in the inventory, providing additional bonuses and buffs. The user needs Martial Weapon proficiency or suffers penalties while wearing the weapon. You can equip it on any class, companion, or character with Martial Weapon proficiency.

How to Get The Hellrider Longbow in Baldur’s Gate 3
In Baldur’s Gate 3, The Hellrider Longbow can be purchased from Ferg Drogher (X:45; Y:-102) in Rivington during Act 3, costing 770 gold.
As soon as you start Act 3, you’ll find yourself in Rivington Village, and you can find Ferg Drogher on the road southeast of Arfur’s Mansion (X:45; Y:-102). He sells a few valuable items, including the Hellrider Longbow in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3). But first, you must convince him to sell you his stuff. He buys heirlooms from desperate refugees needing gold and trades their goods elsewhere. To persuade him, you don’t need to approve of his method but do not engage in combat with him. Ask if you can see his vares and he will show what he has for sale.
If you have Shadowheart in your party, he will recognize Shadowheart. Depending on your decisions, you’ll engage in two different dialogues. The conversation will lead to Ferg walking away, so if you want to buy the items, do not bring Shadowheart with you. However, he is part of the Shadowheart personal quest, so if you want to learn more or get Viconia’s Walking Fortress, the Legendary Shield, you will need to bring Shaodwheart to him at some point anyway.
How does Trailers Stock Work?
Vendors, including Ferg Drogher, will offer a random selection of items each day, so after taking a long rest and finishing the day, their shop’s inventory should refresh. So it may take a few days to find and get the Harold in BG3. Happy shopping!
