The Infernal Robe is a great starting chest armour for spellcasters in Baldur’s Gate 3, and you can get it in Act 1 – This short Guide explains everything you need to know about the Infernal Robe in BG3.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, the pursuit of powerful gear is a key part of any adventurer’s journey, and the Infernal Robe is one of the most sought-after items in the game. This iconic piece of attire is not only visually striking but also imbued with otherworldly powers that can give your character a significant edge in both combat and exploration. However, it requires a major sacrifice to obtain. In this guide, we’ll explore the Infernal Robe, how to acquire it, and tips for using it effectively in Baldur’s Gate 3.
What Are The Infernal Robe in BG3?

In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Infernal Robe is one of the few pieces of Very Rare gear that can be obtained early in Act 1, depending upon how you play. It does require a great sacrifice, in the form of losing one of the most popular companions (the previous bypass around this has been patched out). Is the trade-off worth it?
The primary bonus features the Infernal Robe grants the wearer is an overall increase in Armour Class and Fire Resistance. Another great feature is the access to the Fire Shield: Warm spell which can be cast once per Long Rest. This spell creates scorching flames which shed light in a 3 m / 10 ft radius. You take only half the damage of all Cold damage and deal 2d8 Fire damage to anyone who hits you with a melee attack.

How to Get Infernal Robe in BG3? Explained

To get the Infernal Robe in Baldur’s Gate 3 you will need to first recruit Wyll in the Druid Grove, and then find and kill Karlach, as he has been ordered to do so by Mizora. The next time you take a Long Rest (assuming that some other important story scene isn’t rated higher, it may take another Long Rest to trigger), Mizora will appear at camp and reward Wyll with the Infernal Robe. While the scene plays out with her magically clothing Wyll in it, the Robe will actually be in your inventory at the end of the scene.

How to Get Infernal Robe in Baldur’s Gate 3 Without Killing Karlach
Sadly, as of Patch 5 it is no longer possible to get the Infernal Robe without killing Karlach. Since it appears that Larian has already gone to the trouble of fixing this once, this consequence is clearly intended to happen. If another work around is found then we’ll post it here, but for now this option is no longer available.
Tips & Tricks for Infernal Robe in BG3
Here are some tips and tricks for using Infernal Robe in Baldur’s Gate 3.
- The Sorcerer is the best class to use the Infernal Robe on.
- Equipping the Infernal Robe will make your character resistant to Fire and increase Armour Class by 1.
- Fire Shield: Warm is one of the best defensive spells that shields your character. As you won’t be using much shield with the sorcerer, this spell will make things a lot easier for you.
Conclusion
The Infernal Robe is a great Clothing item, especially for the Sorcerer class as it further increases the Armour Class by 1 and grants various benefits.
