How to Get Shadow of Menzoberranzan in Baldur’s Gate 3
In order to earn the Shadow of Menzoberranzan in Baldur’s Gate 3 you’ll have to progress far in enough into Act 1 that you can venture into the challenging Underdark area in order to visit the Myconid Colony. There are several ways to get into the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3, but probably the shortest way to get to Myconid Colony is to use the Well found in the Blighted Village. In order to take this route at least one of your characters will need to pass a DC10 Intelligence check in order for the well to become visible. There will be a cavern like area below where you will find lots of spider enemies. The biggest threat is the Phase Spider Matriach you can choose to fight or attempt to avoid.
You’ll then be looking for the Whispering Depth waypoint, which almost directly to the west. Nearby you should see an open chasm. Cast Feather Fall or consume a Feather Fall potion BEFORE jumping in. Doing so will let you float safely down into the Underdark. Once you land on your feet, head northwest and you should find the Myconid Colony. You’ll need to successfully pass a DC 5 Charisma check in order to convince them that you mean no harm, and they’ll let you visit.
Once inside, you can look around and then climb up top the orange mushrooms in about the center of the Colony to speak with the Sovereign Spaw. He’ll explain there has been some trouble, and you can agree to help him to start the Defeat the Duergar Intruders quest. To complete it, head southwest on the map until you find the Decrepit Village.
You’ll have to deal with a Duergar, named Gekh Coal and his allies. Be careful as you approach because they can gain Surprise in addition to the high ground Advantage if they are up in the structures and you are down below. Once they have been defeated, return to the Sovereign. He will unlock the secret area which had originally been blocked off. You can find it north and a little west of where the Sovereign is located.
Inside you’ll see a Pale Corpse figure laying on the floor in about the center. The Shadow of Menzoberranzan helm is over on the right/east next to a blue crystal.
