In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Shapeshifter Hat is a headpiece for the druid class, and you can get it during Act 3 – This short Guide explains everything you need to know about the Shapeshifter Hat in BG3.
Everything about Shapeshifter Hat in Baldur’s Gate 3
In Baldur’s Gate 3 the Shapeshifter Hat is a piece of headgear specifically made for the Druid class, and it’s bonuses reflect this. Nature’s Embrace will increase the number of available Wild Shape changes by 1. Wild Shape is a Class Action available only to Druids which allows them to magically assume the shape of a beast. They cannot speak or cast spells while in animal form, but each form has it’s own HP bar and attacks it can perform.
Normally, a Druid can only Wild Shape twice per Short Rest. By equipping this hat, that number will be boosted to three changes per Short Rest. For some players this may not seem necessary, depending on how often you are taking Short Rests. But many of the animal forms, though not always powerful, can be quite helpful while exploring. The Cat can fit into small spaces and the Raven can fly otherwise inaccessible areas. Having an extra transformation on hand can be quite helpful.

Where to find Shapeshifter Hat in Baldur’s Gate 3
You can find the Shapeshifter Hat in the sale inventory of Helsik at the Devil’s Fee store in Act 3 of BG3. The Devil’s Fee can be found inside the city walls of Baldur’s Gate on the northwest side of the city. You’ll need to speak with her and pass an Arcana check before she will show you the good items in her inventory, however.
How to Get Shapeshifter Hat Baldur’s Gate 3
You get the Shapeshifter Hat in Baldur’s Gate 3 by making it to the Lower City in Act 3 and purchasing it from Helsik at the Devil’s Fee. Use or find the Lower City Central Wall waypoint, which is the closest to fast travel point. Once you arrive at the waypoint it is a simple walk straight north with a little turn to the right/east and then you’ll find the grand store building quickly on your left.
A Gold Dwarf by the name of Helsik runs this store. The first time you visit, if you head straight in to speak with her, she will only have some dyes, potions and a few alchemy ingredients in stock. Helsik doesn’t show just any customer off the street the good stuff! In order to see her full inventory, you’ll need to browse around her shop. There are a handful of interesting items which should hopefully highlight themselves with a few successful Perception checks. Interact with each and hopefully pass an Arcana check on at least one to get a hint into the rarity of items in the shop.
Afterwards, when you return to speak with her, there should now be a different dialogue option where you can comment on her wares. Impressed at your knowledge (or just assuming that you must have the coin to back it up) she agrees to let you see all of her stock. You’ll find the Shapeshifter Hat now available, and you can purchase it for the reasonable price of 70 gold!
FAQs About Shapeshifter Hat in BG3
Q1: Is the Shapeshifter’s Hat a good head armor in BG3?
Answer: The Shapeshifter’s Hat is the best-in-slot headpiece for a Circle of the Moon Druid in Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s primary trait will give all Druids a +1 Wild Shape Charge. However, it doesn’t have much application outside of the Druid class, and would not be appropriate to equip it to anyone else.
Q2: How do you unlock Helsik’s good stock at the Devil’s Fee?
Answer: First, your party needs to walk around the shop and pass two or three Perception checks regarding items in the store. Next, one party member needs to pass a 15DC Arcana check to suggest that a diabolist is running the store. This check in unnecessary if Karlach is in your party. Finally, speak to Helsik again and ask her if she is a diabolist.
