Svartlebee’s Woundseeker is a powerful greatsword in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3), and you can get it from a Flaming Fist in Act 1.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, Svartlebee’s Woundseeker is an uncommon, but powerful greatsword that a class or race with martial weapons proficiency can use to deal extra damage to enemies with less than 100% HP. The Deepen the Wound trait will grant the user a +1d4 to Attack Rolls using Svartlebee’s Woundseeker anytime they attack a target that has already taken damage.
Consequently, while the first hit on an enemy wouldn’t do any extra damage, all subsequent hits would add 1-4 points of damage. This might not seem like much, but is great for the early game of BG3.

How to Get Svartlebee’s Woundseeker in BG3?
To get Svartlebee’s Woundseeker in Baldur’s Gate 3 you need to find Gauntlet Yeva at Waukeen’s Rest, rescue Counsellor Florrick, and then attack Gauntlet Yeva before she disappears after being dismissed at the end of the cut scene.
Step 1- Find Waukeen’s Rest
Waukeen’s Rest is to the north of the main Act 1 map of Baldur’s Gate 3. The most important step is to make sure you are prepared and have a full party before going inside the Inn courtyard. If you enter this area and then leave (even teleporting to your camp), when you come back the Inn will have burned down and nearly everyone will have left. Consequently, you will not be able to get this greatsword or start Rescue the Grand Duke.
You will have a high Strength character like Lae’zel or Karlach in your party, and possibly a character like Shadowheart or Wyll with the Command spell available.
Once you are ready, enter the Inn courtyard and walk to the front door. Several Flaming Fists are trying to get inside, and you can speak to Gauntlet Yeva on the far left. Help the Fists open the door and they will run inside.
Significantly, you can use the Command spell here to get Yeva to drop Svartlebee’s Woundseeker. However, she will quickly pick it back up again. It’s very tricky to pick it up without making all the Fists hostile to you. Consequently, it’s better to wait and take it from her after the following events.
Step 2- Rescue Councellor Florrick
Next, instead of following the Fists inside the building, head to the building on the east of the courtyard. Use your high Strength character to move the wine barrel out of the doorway. Then, that same character can jump up to the second floor on the left-hand side.
Head through the open doorway and interact with the locked door at the end of the hallway. Counsellor Florrick is trapped behind it, and you will need to pass a Strength check to break the door down for her.
Finally, retreat and return to the courtyard. There will be a cut scene and Counsellor Florrick will offer you the option of one of three rewards: The Sparky Points, The Joltshooter, or The Spellsparkler. Know ahead of time which you want to choose. You need to take the reward quickly so that you can find and follow Gauntlet Yeva.
Step 3- Kill Gauntlet Yeva for Svartlebee’s Woundseeker
After the dialogue with Councellor Florrick, almost all of the Flaming Fists will start to walk away and leave. You need to find and track Gauntlet Yeva as she walks away.
Additionally, it’s highly recommended that you wait to attack until most of the Flaming Fist have disappeared. If you attack right away, then everyone becomes hostile to you. Gauntlet Yeva will likely be the last to disappear, but you’ll need to time it so you don’t wait too long. A quick save here can help if you miss-time it.
When ready, click on turn-based mode and have Wyll or Shadowheart cast Command: Drop on Yeva. This will also help make the fight easier. Kill her, and any other Flaming Fist that comes to aid. Afterward, you can finally claim Svartlebee’s Woundseeker.
How to use Svartlebee’s Woundseeker in BG3?
The best way to use Svartlebee’s Woundseeker in BG3 is by equipping it to a Battlemaster Fighter like Lae’zel. This greatsword has some of the strongest base damage you can find on a weapon in Act 1. Consequently, a Fighter using Action Surge and Extra Attack for additional action will be able to do a great amount of damage.
Furthermore, you should make sure to always trigger the additional 1-4 damage point. Always have one of your other characters attack enemies first. Even bonus actions that only do a few points of damage can drop an enemy below 100% HP. So long as the target has already taken some kind of damage from any source, the extra damage from the Deepen the Wound trait will apply.
If you weren’t able to get the Everburn Blade in the prologue, then Svartlebee’s Woundseeker is a fantastic alternative. Moreover, if you can claim both, then you can equip the second greatsword to Shadowheart, and have two very strong frontline melee party members.
