What is the Sparkswall in BG3?
In Baldur’s Gate 3, The Sparkswall is a remarkable ring that offers invaluable protection against lightning-related threats. It provides the wearer with the Spark Blocker buff, making them electrocution-resistant. Additionally, this ring gives substantial resistance to lightning damage, making it an indispensable asset for adventurers facing foes that harness the power of lightning in their attacks, such as spellcasters or constructs. You can equip it to your character’s ring slot in the inventory, providing additional bonuses and buffs. There are no requirements for this item. You can equip it on any class, companion, or character.
In Arcane Tower, you’ll find many other great items. Still, you must get the Guiding Light and unlock the basement in the Arcane Tower Basement, where you can find other fantastic items such as Light of Creation, Staff of Arcane Blessing, and Uncovered Mysteries.

How to Get The Sparkswall in Baldur’s Gate 3
To get the Sparkswall, you must first enter the Underdark. There are a few entrances, including trying the Shattered Sanctum and Auntie Ethel’s house, but I’ll quickly explain how to get there through the Whispering Depths underneath Blighted Village. You’ll need the potion, scroll, or spell of Feather Fall, so ensure you have one before proceeding.
Find the Underdark
Set your course west from Emerald Grove, and you’ll easily find the Blighted Village and a well in the middle. You must pass an Investigation skill check of 10 DC, to use it and climb down to the Whispering Depths. Inside the cave system, there are giant Spiders and Spider Matriarchs (X: -543 Y: -366). You must defeat them first, so we advise you to reach at least level 3 so you’ll have no problem with the fight and surviving in the Underdark.
Once you are ready and defeated the spiders, you need to jump down the big tunnel (X: -543 Y: -366) leading straight down to the Underdark, and that’s when you need the Feather Fall spell. Use it so you won’t take any fall damage. In the Underdark, you must find the Arcane Tower. Get the Sparkswall
You can get the Sparkswall from the Arcane Tower Basement in the Underdark during Act 1. Here is an overview of how to get the Sparkswall in BG3:
- Complete the prologue, Progress in Act 1(Advised level 3)
- Head West from Emerald Grove to reach Blighted Village
- Enter the Underdark – The easiest way is to use the well in the center of the Blighted Village and jump down the hole in Whispering Depths (X: -543 Y: -366).
- Head west to the Arcane Tower (X: -4, Y: -29)
- Jump on mushrooms to get to the back of the tower.
- Gather the Sussur flower from the garden in the back.
- Lockpick the back door.
- Deactivate the turrets and activate the lift by placing the Sussur Flower in the generator at the lowest level.
- Defeat Bernard and Constructs at the top of the tower or peacefully persuade him to handle you the Guiding Light Ring.
- Put the ring on one of your characters.
- The button to the basement will appear on the lift platform
- Press the button to be transported to the basement.
- Loot The Sparkswall from the chest in the basement, standing on the wooden floor in BG3 (X:163 Y:-427).
The Sparkswall is next to the desk in the Arcane Tower Basement at (X:163 Y:-427).
How to Use the Sparkswall in BG3
Equipping the Sparkswall ring will gain the character wearing it all of its passive benefits. These benefits include making that character completely immune to being electrocuted and making them resistant to Lightning damage. That means that all Lighting damage that hits that character is halved, which can be extremely useful for dealing with spellcasters and contructs.
Tips and Tricks of the Sparkswall in BG3
Make sure to equip a character with the Sparkwall whenever you know you are going to be getting in combat with enemies using lightning attacks. Lessoning damage they deal can help win out those battles, especially when the odds are normally against you.
