In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Guiding Light is a ring connected to the story with situational use. The light spell can be helpful in dark places during exploration to light up the object if your character doesn’t have the darkvision. Still, the ring’s main purpose is to be able to open the Arcane Tower Basement and gather fantastic items such as Light of Creation, Staff of Arcane Blessing, The Sparkswall, and Uncovered Mysteries. You can equip it to your character’s ring slot in the inventory, providing additional bonuses and buffs. There are no requirements for this item. You can equip it on any class, companion, or character.

How to Get The Guiding Light in Baldur’s Gate 3
You can get the Guiding Light from the Bernard at Arcane Tower in the Underdark during Act 1. Here is a short overview of how to get the Guiding Light in BG3:
- Complete the prologue
- Head West from Emerald Grove to reach Blighted Village
- Enter the Underdark – The easiest way is to use the well in the center of the Blighted Village and jump down the hole in Whispering Depths (X: -543 Y: -366).
- Head west to the Arcane Tower (X: -4, Y: -29)
- Jump on mushrooms to get to the back of the tower.
- Gather the Sussur flower from the garden in the back.
- Lockpick the back door.
- Deactivate the turrets and activate the lift by placing the Sussur Flower in the generator at the lowest level.
- Use the Lift to ascend to the top of the tower and face the construct guardians and Bernard there.
- Defeat Bernard
- Get the Guiding Light from Bernardin BG3.
