The reasons he is considered useful are due to his abilities during combat. His active ability includes throwing a projectile towards the enemies, startling and dazing them in the process. Where To Find Gennojo in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

The first time you meet Gennojo is during the mission ‘The Fool Shinbakufu.’ On your way to retrieve the missing letter at Bamboo Grove, you see an unknown man crouched. You approach and begin an intense duel with him and then defeat him. It is after this that the character Gennojo enters Naoe’s life. Gennojo willingly hands over the letter and also makes a subtle flirt attempt before disappearing at the end of the cut scene.

During the last phase of the mission, Gennojo reappears, and he lays a strike on the wrong Ise brother. Gennojo and Naoe hold a brief conversation when this time you are prompted with two optional choices of response. Choose “You might be right,” which is highlighted. Regardless of your choice, you still get to meet him the next time, but this response acts in a more affirmative way.

Talk to Gennojo During Snake and Swords

During the mission Snake and Swords, you get to speak with Gennojo. Gennojo is seated, drunk, conversing with the villagers. He is trying to justify his thieving actions, which don’t resonate well with the villagers, who call him names. You can approach him and calm him down.

This is when Gennojo shoots another shot at Naoe, leading us to another choice of prompts. This time, choose “Depends what you’re offering” as the response. The tension is quickly diffused as some samurai approach due to all the commotion caused by Gennojo. Kill the samurai and continue the conversation with him.

During this conversation, you will be rewarded with the next set of prompted choices. This choice proves to be a direct invitation for the romance to occur. Choose “Charming offer, thief” as your words. Naoe agrees with the condition that Gennojo would tidy himself up. Gennojo then sets the location for their next meeting at the tax collector’s house in the region of Kyoto. After that, your mission completes, and the mission ‘Honor Among Thieves’ quest unlocks.

Honor Among Thieves in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Begin the quest and go meet Gennojo. Once you reach the location, head towards the blue blip on your screen, and you will find Gennojo. Now, begin the conversation with him, and you will be handed a task by him to retrieve a scroll from the house.

Get through the mission solely via stealth and collect the scroll, which happens to be the ‘Map of Yamashiro.’ Take the scroll back to Gennojo and begin the next set of conversations. During this, you will be given a new set of optional choices, but this time, a warning is issued as well, stating that the choice would impact Gennojo. Choose the second option, “I’m keeping it, then,” and this will initiate the romance sequence to commence shortly. This will begin the Stolen Hearts mission.

How To Romance Gennojo?

In this quest, you will be tasked with helping Gennojo. Interacting with certain people will provide you with hints on his whereabouts. Follow the hints displayed on the objective board and use the world map to pinpoint locations to find his precise location. You will finally find Gennojo captured and tied up in a beaten-up and bruised state. You will set him free, and Gennojo will take you to one of his hideouts.

Watch the cutscene unfold as the two grow closer while sharing their experiences. You will now be prompted with two choices again. Choose “I’d like to embrace you.” Choosing this will have Naoe ask Gennojo to kiss her. This will commence their romance.
