In Monster Hunter Wilds or MHWilds, Werner is the Astrum’s Unit’s Smithy. His unit is made up of Olivia, Erik, and Athos.
“A physics and engineering specialist, and a leading mind in weapon technology.”

What Is Werner’s Role in Monster Hunter Wilds Story?

We meet Werner in the Scarlet Forest camp when Olivia introduces the team to Erik and the Astrum Unit’s Smithy. Once we are back from saving the Kunafa Village and killing Alpha Doshaguma, we interact with Werner to ask about Olivia’s whereabouts. The Smithy states he doesn’t recognize who we are before revealing where the ace hunter is (kickstarting the Beyond the Deluge chapter and later the Repel Uth Duna quest).
After you reach the Oilwell Basin and the story moves forward, Werner will be interested in the workings of the Everforge and even help in fixing it. His reaction to the Everforge’s disaster further showcased his narrow outlook towards fixing things and disregarding anything else.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Werner is associated with the side mission Werner’s Test Run in Chapter 5 in Ruins of Wyveria.
