Read our in-depth walkthrough for the System Fail Safe Mode mission in Split Fiction, which is the last section of Chapter 4.

After you get through the jet skiing section in The Escape mission of Chapter 4, you’ll teleport your way out of Mio’s science fiction world. But rather than jumping into the next chapter, you’ll need to go through another section in the current chapter. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can complete the System Fail Safe Mode mission in Split Fiction.
How To Begin the System Fail Safe Mode Mission in Split Fiction

As the two come out of the science fiction story, they are transported into a fail-safe mode that Rader initiates. They will be able to see the glitch appear far away as their surroundings become red. During the cutscene, Rader informs them that he makes the rules, and his new commandment is that Zoe and Mio will be tethered together for the remainder of this section. What this means is that both will have to stay close to each other. If they move too far away, both will perish.

The section involves various platforming puzzles that both players have to solve by working as a team. It is crucial to minimize your distance from the other player since too much tension on the tether can cause it to break. First, climb up the moving stairs. Time your jumps carefully to avoid creating excess tension in the tethers.
Next, you’ll come to a section where one player will need to stand on a pressure plate while the other jumps to the next platform and stands on the pressure plate there. Slowly and steadily, you will climb up the platforms. Make sure that one player moves off the plate before the other one stands on the next plate. Otherwise, both platforms will disappear, and you’ll plunge to your deaths.
Eventually, you’ll arrive at a section where both of you will need to wall jump to reach the next platform. Next, you’ll have to move through platforms that will move in and out, which will again require precise timing and coordination between you and your co-op partner.
The mission also involves a side-scrolling part with some tricky platforming and timing sections. All of that finally culminates in Zoe and Mio reaching the glitch and being able to progress to the next chapter.
