In addition to having a number of main missions, the game also has several side missions that develop the story and make the game world feel more alive. Kites is one such side mission available in Chapter 4: Final Dawn, and in this guide, you will find a detailed explanation of how to complete this side mission.
How To Unlock Kites Side Mission in Split Fiction
You can unlock the Kites side mission in Split Fiction during the Toxic Tumblers sub-chapter in Chapter 4: Final Dawn. In this sub-chapter, you will come across a section with moving cylinders. Furthermore, if you follow the straight path instead of the left one, you will come upon this side mission.
Kites Side Mission
At the start of the Kites side mission, a cutscene plays where Zoe welcomes Mio to the Kite Run and shares how the game brings back nostalgic memories for her. Afterwards, she challenges Mio to a race.
When you regain control of the characters, the race will start. Head toward the path going to the right and use your grapple hook to climb the kite string. Avoid the dinosaur, and after jumping over it, you will spot a rock tower. Use the string to get across this tower.
Next, you are going to land on a kite. Right after you cross another spiral, you will touch down on a building. From there, jump over the kite to land on another building. Look out for circular rings, as they will increase your speed. Use these rings to shoot from one loop to the next and finally make it to a floating island.
Climb the stairs and continue your journey from one ring to another until you reach another floating island. Repeat the process to arrive at the final island, where the race will end.
