Where To Find Shimosato Kofun in Assassin's Creed Shadows

Discover the location of the Shimosato Kofun in Assassin’s Creed Shadows and how to reach the legendary chest inside.

Across its vast map, Assassin’s Creed Shadows hides several tombs that feature puzzles and parkour sections. Known as kofun, these contain legendary chests, which makes completing them exceptionally rewarding. The Shimosato Kofun is one such challenge that Yasuke needs to complete to earn a legendary katana and much more.

Shimosato Kofun is located in the southeastern corner of the map in the Kii region. It is situated directly southeast of the Kumano Nachi Taisha and south of Seigantoji Pagoda. The Kumano Kakurega is located very close to the Shimosato Kofun. Fast travel there if possible and head south to find the kofun’s entrance flanked by two stone lamps and surrounded by small streams of water. The entrance is essentially a passageway heading underground, framed by rocks.

How To Complete Shimosato Kofun in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Start the Shimosato Kofun as Yasuke and begin heading underground. Open the chest just past the entrance to find the Shinobi’s Regret (Epic Amulet). To its right, you will find a wooden box that can be shifted aside to reveal a path leading deeper into the tomb. Jump into the pool of water ahead and turn around to find a submerged passageway behind you.

After swimming up the steps and surfacing into the next room, head through the doorway on the left. There will be a wooden box blocking the way ahead and an explosive pot in a small room to the left. Pick up the explosive pot and head back to the previous room. Throw it at the debris blocking the way ahead. Shoot the pot with an arrow or bullet to clear the debris with an explosion.

Puzzle 2

Once again, you will need to swim through submerged passageways. After you surface, head through the nearest entrance, on the right. It will lead to a dead end with an explosive pot visible through a crack in the wall. Shoot the explosive pot and head back to the doorway on the left.

Puzzle 3

After crawling under a stone slab, you will see more debris blocking the path ahead. Loot the arrows and teppo shots on the right if required. Turn left and move the two boxes ahead to either side. Pick up the explosive pot and throw it close to the debris before shooting it.

Puzzle 4

Push the box blocking the path forward into the next room. Climb it to reach the ledge on the left. Move the box on the ledge straight ahead and climb it before jumping over to the higher ledge on the right. In the next area, jump to the ledge on the right and loot the chest there to find the Exotic Katana of the Fiend (Epic Long Katana). Jump back and then to the ledge on the right to proceed to the final section.

You will arrive at another pool of water separating you from the chamber ahead. Jump into the water and swim into the passage leading downward. Be sure to use the “Lunge” button to make it to the end before running out of breath. Surface and enter the following room to find the legendary chest to your left.
