Discover the 5 best remakes of all time that gave new life to some previous generation cult classic hits with our list.

Remake culture has seen a rise in recent years, prompting many studios to remake some of their most popular games. These games hold a special place in the hearts of many gamers across the globe and are praised to this day.
While there have been countless remakes in recent times, we will be mentioning the 5 best remakes of all time.
1. Shadow of the Colossus

The first Bluepoint Games entry on this list, their remake of Shadow of the Colossus, is nothing short of remarkable. They remade the entire game from the ground up and kept it fully faithful to the original. Additionally, they also added some nods and easter eggs that longtime fans of Fumito Ueda’s games would certainly appreciate.
Visually, this game is arguably one of the most gorgeous games released on the PlayStation 4. With how much respect it gave to the original version, it definitely makes our list of the best remakes.
2. Final Fantasy VII Remake

Final Fantasy VII Remake is something that has been long-awaited by avid fans of the franchise. Square Enix listened and took it a step up from a remake, instead opting for a whole reimagining. Also, they upgraded the game from a 2D turn-based system to a fully 3D action RPG. Additionally, the game is breathtakingly beautiful, with some of the best combat systems we have seen from Square Enix.
3. Resident Evil 4 Remake

It can be argued that Capcom popularized the remake culture by remaking Resident Evil 1 and 2. After these remakes, much to the excitement of players, they decided to remake the next two Resident Evil games as well. This led to the remake of the fourth game, which took everything about the original and made it better. The RE Engine shines incredibly well here, showcasing how gorgeous Capcom’s reimagining of Resident Evil 4 is.
4. Yakuza Kiwami

Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the original Yakuza game that started it all on the PlayStation 2. The game enhances the original in every way, most notably the combat. They scrapped the original combat system, instead opting for the style system introduced in Yakuza 0. This made it arguably the most fun Yakuza game, purely combat wise.
Additionally, the new cutscenes and voice overs are superb, enhancing the experience and introducing many new players to the series.
5. Demon’s Souls

Demon’s Souls is the second Bluepoint Games remake on this list, showcasing their mastery of remaking games. Like Shadow of the Colossus, they kept everything about the original Demon’s Souls the same, even the bugs and janky mechanics. Additionally, the graphics of the game are beyond anything we have ever seen in the gaming medium. It can still be argued that we have yet to see a game that visually looks better than Bluepoint’s Demon’s Souls.
While there has been criticism that the hyper-realistic graphics tarnished Miyazaki’s original vision, it is still undeniable that the game is impressive in its own right. Also, there have been rumors circulating that this remake will make its way to PC one day, thanks to the Nvidia leaks that happened a few years back. As most of these leaks have been true, we eagerly await this game being ported.
