Grinding Gear Games’ Path of Exile 2 features a plethora of quests ranging from main story quests to side quests. Albeit side quests are entirely optional, some of them are worth doing as they provide some good rewards.
One such side quest is ‘The Slithering Dead’, where you explore the Venom Crptys, one of the dangerous zones, searching for a corpse. Completing the quest rewards Venom Draught, which can permanently boost your stats. This guide provides insights about The Slithering Dead side quest and the steps required to complete the quest.

The Slithering Dead Side Quest Walkthrough in Path of Exile 2
Initiating the Quest
The Slithering Dead is a side quest, which starts automatically once you enter the Venom Crptys. You can enter the Venom Crptys through a small ancient temple-like structure in Jungle Ruins.
Act 3 takes you to this region, where the Venom Crptys is located near a waypoint. Entering the region starts the quest and provides you with a task to explore the Venom Crptys.
Finding the Corpse
The Venom Crptys is a large area and takes some time to fully explore. You are required to find a corpse in the area. Unfortunately, we can’t provide you with the exact location because of the random nature of the map. However, your goal is to find the Den of the Serpent Priestess, which can be located somewhere near a checkpoint.
Keep your weapons ready, as you will face an army of enemies throughout the way. Upon reaching the Den of the Serpent Priestess, you will notice the corpse lying on the ground. Examine the corpse and obtain the Corpse-Snake Venom.
Rewards for Completing the Quest
Now head back to the Ziggurat Encampment town and talk to Servi. She will provide you with three Venom Draught reward options, and you can pick one of them:
- Venom Draught of Stone: Grants 25% increased Stun Threshold
- Venom Draught of the Veil: Grants 30% increased Elemental Ailment Threshold
- Venom Draught of Clarity: Grants 25% increased Mana Regeneration Rate
You can choose any of these based on your preference. Pick the appropriate Venom Draught that complements your build and playstyle.
