Matthew Haag, popularly known as Nadeshot, is an ex-professional Call of Duty player and a live streamer who has called out Activision’s latest addition to the series. Nadeshot has been an active member of the COD community as a player and as an org owner. Haag claimed that the game’s rampant cheating and persistent connectivity problems have sabotaged the gameplay experience.

The streamer uploaded a YouTube video titled Call of Duty is FORCING me to quit the game, featuring highlights from his stream, where he detailed the issues he has been facing. Matthew said that the core mechanics and gameplay of Black Ops 6 are rewarding and fun. Nadeshot stated that the problems started occurring when COD introduced ranked play. Matthew claimed that COD has been taking shortcuts repeatedly. In the video, he said:

“I love Black Ops 6, the core mechanics are addictive, I think they’re rewarding, I think the gunfights are fun when you feel like you’ve had a fair gunfight but ever since rank play was released…I think Call of Duty….all the shortcuts that they have taken from a server performance, a server protection, I think Call of Duty has just continued to take shortcuts over and over and over again.”

Nadeshot compared the game to Valorant, stating how Valorant’s servers are much more responsive than COD servers. He then explained that the tick rate for Warzone and classic games in COD is much lower, which is incomparable to other FPS games like Counter-Strike. Haag said that Call of Duty boasts a massive player base and that they have taken pride in those terms. Adding to his statements, Matthew continued to say that COD never felt the need to invest in servers that perform better. Haag, addressing the connectivity problems and cheaters, stated:

“Call of Duty has served us up a pile of sh*t from a network performance standpoint. They won’t invest in better servers, higher tick rate servers, there’s no server protections, there’s no safeguards to make sure players are having a fair gaming experience.”

Nadeshot Urges Developers To “Wake Up”

He also stated that Call of Duty developers have become more and more profit-driven and that they aim to please the shareholders. Nadeshot urged the developers to “wake up”:

“They made a great game, but they try to save money for their shareholders, for their bottom-line, for their business units, their P&L. They think nobody will notice, nobody will care, the times have changed, Call of Duty, we gotta wake up.”

Nadeshot announced that while he will continue playing the game, it will be less frequent. He cited his frustration with integrity concerns and network issues.

Ever since Black Ops 6’s release, cheating has been a massive problem for the players. Activision implemented Ricochet anti-cheat software, which did not meet their expectations. After the release of ranked play, Nadeshot has run into multiple cheaters in the game. In one of the incidents, Matthew was matched against the number 1 ranked player on the leaderboards, who was reportedly using cheats.
