How To Add Friends in Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO lets you connect with other Trainers using unique 12-digit Trainer Codes or QR codes. These codes make it simple to send friend requests. Keep in mind, that friend requests expire after seven days if they aren’t accepted.

You can have up to 450 friends across all Niantic apps, so managing your Friend List is essential if you reach this limit.

Steps to Add Friends

1. Open Pokemon GO and access your Trainer Profile.
2. Tap the Friends tab.
3. Press Add Friend.

From here, you have two options:

• Enter Trainer Code: Type the 12-digit code of the Trainer you want to add.
• Scan QR Code: Use your device’s camera to scan the Trainer’s QR code.

Need to change your Trainer Code? Tap the refresh icon to reset it permanently.

Add Your Facebook Friends in Pokemon GO

Want to connect with Facebook friends? Sync your accounts to see who else is playing Pokemon GO.

How to Sync Facebook

1. Open your Trainer Profile and go to the Friends tab.
2. Select Add Facebook Friends.
3. Allow Pokemon GO to access your Facebook Friend List.

Once synced, you’ll see a list of Facebook friends who also play Pokemon GO. Tap Send Friend Request to connect.

Note:

• Only Facebook friends who sync their accounts will appear.
• Your Facebook name and profile picture will help others recognize you.
• You can adjust permissions anytime through your Facebook settings.

Add Friends From Your Contact List

You can also connect with Trainers through your phone’s Contacts.

How to Sync Contacts

1. Go to the Friends tab in your Trainer Profile.
2. Tap Contacts and follow the prompts to sync with Pokemon GO.
3. Confirm your name and grant access.

Once synced, you can:

• Invite New Players: Send an SMS or email invitation, including your referral code.
• Add Existing Players: Send friend requests to contacts who already play Pokemon GO.

Important Details:

• Pokemon GO syncs up to 2,000 contacts. If your list is larger, all of the contacts will not appear.
• Contacts are stored securely on Pokemon GO servers and expire if access is revoked.
• Verify your phone number if required. Confirm your number and enter the SMS verification code.
• Contact updates sync periodically when you reopen the app.

If you don’t want to receive friend invites from Trainers with your contact info, you can opt-out in Niantic Profile settings.

How To Remove Friends From Pokemon GO

Removing someone from your Friend List is easy, and they won’t be notified.

Steps To Remove a Friend

1. Open the Friends tab in your Trainer Profile.
2. Tap the profile of the friend you want to remove.
3. Scroll to the bottom and select Remove Friend.

After removal, any bonuses or progress shared between you will end. If you re-add the friend shortly after, your Friendship level will be restored. Remember, removing a friend in Pokemon GO also removes them in other Niantic apps.
