Recently in a viral video, popular streamer ExtraEmily was seen crying after receiving backlash for not paying back her parents.
On January 5, 2025, Twitch streamer ExtraEmily received backlash from her viewers. The streamer was seen in tears after she said that she won’t be paying back the $170K her parents paid for her college. She started crying when she received comments regarding the same from her viewers.
In the video, ExtraEmily says that she is never going to pay it back:
“I’m never gonna pay it back! I don’t want to.”

When reminded that she could pay them back now that she is a capable streamer, she stuck to her words and said that she won’t and that her student loans were on her parents.
“Yeah, but I am not going to… Yes, student loans to my parents. My parent paid and then they’re like ‘pay us back for college’ and I just like don’t want to.”
She was then asked if she thought that would make them happy and proud, to which she just said,
“They’re fine.”
Most fans opined that what ExtraEmily was doing was not right. This incident sparked debate about her success and her YouTube earnings, with people calling her selfish and questioning OTK members.

One user pointed out that the chat rightfully told Emily she was being selfish and posted screenshots of her estimated earnings.
Her YouTube earnings not including streaming, sponsors, donations, murch, etc.. Once chat told her she's being selfish she cried which is probably how she's got her way her whole life.

Another user questioned whether every OTK member is “trash”. They expressed surprise at a millionaire being so selfish in regard to her parents.

X use “yan” said that ExtraEmily is finally being canceled. They also said that they “genuinely dislike” OTK members and that they will “fall and perish.”
Who Is ExtraEmily?
Emily Zhang, popularly known as ExtraEmily, is a Chinese-American Twitch streamer and YouTuber. She usually goes live on Twitch. She is frequently seen with other Twitch streamers, like Mizkif, Emiru, Esfand, and Cinna. Born on January 16, 1998, Emily graduated from Columbia University in 2020.
Emily created her YouTube channel on October 27, 2019. Moreover, on November 18, 2024, she posted her most viewed video, “I Forced My Australian Friend To SHOOT GUNS…”. In March 2023, she joined the One True King group and later became one of the most popular streamers in the community. Currently, she has a total of 459K followers on her Twitch channel and 134K subscribers on her YouTube channel.
Before starting streaming as a full-time career, ExtraEmily pursued a career in the corporate world. However, during a livestream in 2022, she announced that she had been let go from her job and will be pursuing streaming full-time. She said,
“I’m going to be a full-time streamer because I got fired from my job. I literally got fired, but I’m gonna take it as like, a sign from the universe that I’m meant to be a full-time streamer.”
