Kingdom Come Deliverance throws you into the shoes of Henry of Skalitz. You are a man on the run to survive after your home was raided and your parents slain. With nothing to your name, you have to rely on scavenging for items, living on whatever you find. Frequently, you will come across locked chests that seem to be hiding lucrative items within. But to open these chests, you need to lockpick.
The lockpicking minigame is one of the hardest minigames in Kingdom Come Deliverance, as the game tells you very little about how to approach it. How To Lockpick
Once you approach a lock and attempt to lockpick, a giant circle pops up on your screen. This circle represents the inner elements of the lock. The larger outer circle is the lock itself, while the smaller circle inside represents your lockpick.
You use your right analog stick (or mouse if playing on PC) to move the smaller circle inside the lock. Move it around till the circle glows yellow. This means you have found the lock’s weak spot. Now, your job is to hold the lockpick (smaller circle) at the weak spot while rotating the lock.
Using the left analog stick (or D on PC) will rotate the lock. As you rotate the lock, the weak spot rotates with it. Move the lockpick alongside the lock to keep it locked on the weak spot. So if you’re playing on a console, you will have to use and rotate both the left stick and the right stick simultaneously, which can be a little difficult. After rotating the lock for a bit, the lock will give way and your lockpicking endeavor will be successful.
If you’re struggling with lockpicking in Kingdom Come Deliverance, you can head to the game settings through the pause menu. Here, you can set the lockpicking to ‘Simplified,’ which will make the task much easier. We also recommend unlocking the Lasting Lockpicks perk, which makes the lockpicks harder to break by giving you two additional chances with each lockpick.
