Jason “Thor” Hall, popularly known online as PirateSoftware, has been accused of using a voice changer in his streams for a while now. However, Jason debunked these claims during a segment of a stream. Many on the internet believe that Thor uses a voice changer due to his deep voice. Several clips from his older interviews and streams, where his voice appears to have a higher pitch, have gone viral amid the ongoing WoW controversy.

During a stream, PirateSoftware discussed the evolution of his voice. He stated that he had visited a healthcare professional who told him that a man’s voice can change. He also stated that it was “effectively second puberty.” Thor showcased an old clip from his streams and said that this is how he used to sound before. In the video, he says:

“Went back to the doctor, doctor is like “hey sometimes in your early thirties, your voice can change as a man and it’s effectively second puberty.””

Recently, PirateSoftware has been under fire for his actions during a raid in the World of Warcraft hardcore game mode. For context, during a raid in the OnlyFangs guild, Thor and his raid group made several mistakes that led to the death of two players. The WoW community was enraged by Thor’s actions and his comments on the matter. Fellow streamer Yamato, who was also part of the raid, criticized PirateSoftware for the lack of accountability on his part regarding his actions. Several members of the community called out Jason for allegedly using a voice changer during his streams.

What Did PirateSoftware Sound Like Before?

Amid the ongoing feud between PirateSoftware and the WoW community, community members have criticized Jason for several things, including problematic behavior. One of the many criticisms includes that Jason purportedly uses a voice modulator during his streams, which makes his voice sound more hoarse. At the Streamer Awards 2023, one of the presenters even joked about Jason’s use of voice changers. Thor won the Best Software and Game Development Streamer award in 2023.

“And the winner goes to the man with the voice changer, PirateSoftware!”

For anyone curious about what PirateSoftware sounded like in the past, here’s a clip from an interview featuring Jason. PirateSoftware’s voice had a higher pitch, which led to allegations of him using a voice modulator during his streams.
