Gamers Nexus’ Steve Burke has alleged that LinusTechTips has disrespected smaller creators and forgot where he came from in his latest video. Burke uploaded a video on January 15, 2025, announcing that he has filed a lawsuit against PayPal Honey. In the video, he discussed the severity of the situation surrounding Honey, and how it has affected a lot of creators. During a segment of the video, Steve addressed a clip from Linus’ WAN show:

“It’s just unbelievably disrespectful to all the solo people and all the small companies who are affected by this, especially in a disproportionately bad way. This is an area where I fundamentally disagree with LMG Linus’s take on this situation.”

In the video, Linus said that there is no way he makes that video and ends up “getting hanged on the nearest tree.” However, many believe that the clip Gamers Nexus used was taken out of context. Linus in the segment of the WAN show said:

“There is just no way that I make that video and I don’t end up hanging from the nearest tree”

This incident is part of a series of criticisms between Gamers Nexus and Linus Tech Tips. In August 2023, Gamers Nexus raised concerns about LTT’s accuracy, ethics, and accountability in content creation through an investigative video. This led to Linus Media Group pausing video production to address the raised issues. In a similar fashion, Burke criticized Linus Tech Tips’ response to the Honey allegations. He labeled Linus’s reaction as “unbelievably disrespectful” and questioned his reluctance to make a video regarding the matter.

Community Reactions to Gamers Nexus Calling Out Linus

After his video was released on the 15th, the viewers were quick to point out the Linus jab made by Gamers Nexus. Some users criticized the segment, stating that it was unnecessary. Meanwhile, some users pointed out that Linus was the only creator who was aware of the Honey scandal. Since the MegaLag video, many have voiced their opinions against Linus, stating that he could have exposed PayPal Honey before.

A post on the r/youtubedrama subreddit asked for Redditors’ opinions on the video. The Reddit user stated that Gamers Nexus included an out-of-context clip of Linus. The user, like many others, shared the sentiment that Steve should have urged LinusTechTips to join forces against Honey.

“Im going to be honest, with a pretty unpopular opinion here, GN’s original expose on LTT made me lose a lot more respect for Steve, then it did for Linus. I wont relitigate everything in that video, but suffice to say, outside of data errors in videos, basically every criticism was making something out of nothing, or taking a small deal and making it a huge deal with incredibly misleading information,” wrote Booster6.

In an extensive comment criticizing Steve, a user called out his previous video on Linus and stated that:

“Does Steve really need to put an out-of-context clip of Linus? Can’t he just tell why he’s suing and encourage LTT to join them? Like to me it just signals that GN is being petty and only did the hit piece because LTT Labs encroached on their territory,” commented @MessyItchySketchy.

A user stated that there is damage control ongoing from Linus fans about the situation. While many share the same opinion, the user’s comment stated:

“Sure feels like some LTT brigading and damage control going on here.”
