Hyper Light Breaker is now in its early access launch and can be played via Steam on PC. The latest entry in the Hyper Light series offers a fresh and distinct gameplay experience, setting it apart from its predecessors. Looking back, Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D RPG game, and Solar Ash is an action-adventure platform game. Hyper Light Breaker raises the bar with its new co-op open-world rogue-lite mechanics.

As an early-access game, more content and changes may arrive in the future. This means we can never be certain what more is in store for players. This is why many players are wondering if Hyper Light Breaker is playable on Xbox Game Pass.

For now, Hyper Light Breaker is not available via Xbox Game Pass. Players who wish to play the game will have to purchase it on Steam. Heart Machine, the developers behind the game, have yet to officially announce if there will be an Xbox Game Pass release. However, the developers are hopeful that they can release the game to more platforms in the foreseeable future.

With that in mind, fans of the Hyper Light series should keep an eye out for future updates regarding console availability and potential Xbox Game Pass integration. As the game continues its development through early access, new content, optimizations, and platform support may expand its reach.

When Is the Hyper Light Breaker Full Release?

It’s still unclear when Hyper Light Breaker will exit its early access phase. According to the developers, it might take a year before the game gets a full release. Many Steam games enter early access with great promise but never reach a full release. This leaves its player base in limbo. However, Heart Machine has built a solid reputation for delivering polished, complete experiences. Both Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash were fully realized titles that garnered critical acclaim, giving fans confidence that Hyper Light Breaker will follow a similar path.

According to the developers, releasing Hyper Light Breaker in early access will help them polish the game with the help of the community that has supported them for years.

“Our game is an open world, online, rogue-lite with procedurally generated worlds – it has limitless replayability with a wild number of combinations. We are essentially inventing and defining this subgenre of ‘open world rogue-lite,’ and feel strongly that openness and responsiveness to player feedback will be critical to this ambitious process. The community will be instrumental in helping us to balance the experience, evolve the designs, and make a better, more performant, versatile, and complete game ultimately. By going into Early Access we can showcase and talk about our game openly, invite the audience in to see how it’s made, and participate in helping to make it better.”

The developers’ proven track record suggests that, while the wait for the full release may take time, it is likely to be well worth the patience.

Is Buying Hyper Light Breaker in Early Access Worth It?

If you are a long-time fan of the Hyper Light series, purchasing the game in early access is a great way to support the developers and actively participate in its development by providing valuable feedback.

Games in early access are typically incomplete. While they offer a glimpse of the final vision, they often come with bugs, balance issues, and limited content that could hinder the overall experience. So, unless you want to contribute to the development process by supporting the game financially, you should just wait until the game is complete.
