IShowSpeed has been invited by the Mayor of Lima, Rafael López Aliaga, to celebrate Peru’s capital’s 490th anniversary.
Rafael López Aliaga made a post on his X page on Friday, informing Speed that he has been invited to commemorate the 490th anniversary of Lima, the country’s capital. According to the Mayor, the locals are “excited” for his arrival and are eager to showcase what the country has to offer.
“PERU IS WAITING FOR YOU WITH OPEN ARMS! @ishowspeedsui , you’re invited to the celebrations for the anniversary of our beloved city of Lima, which is turning 490 years old.”
López Aliaga highlighted his enthusiasm, noting that Peru is one of nine regions the content creator plans to visit during his South America tour, which began on January 12, 2025. He stated:
“We are excited that you are visiting our country, land of great wealth, beautiful landscapes, and the best cuisine in the world.”
IShowSpeed’s most recent stop was in Ecuador, where he was mobbed by fans who grabbed his hair and more. He also tried a traditional Ecuadorian dish, learned a native dance, and met popular influencer Jorgito Guayaco. He was shocked to try the dish named “cuy” after learning it was actually hamster meat.
“Alright chat, let’s try cuy, the best chicken in Ecuador. It is chicken? Is it chicken? What is it…A hamster? A hamster?… A rat? Okay, okay, okay, okay. It is good. Wait, wait, wait, what is this?”
IShowSpeed Thanks KFC Employee During His South American Tour
IShowSpeed recently thanked a KFC employee after consuming a meal the latter prepared while on an IRL stream in Ecuador. He took a bite out of a fried chicken wing. In a video capturing his wholesome interaction with the employee, Speed approaches and talks to the cashier. With the audience cheering in the background, the streamer stated:
“Thank you! That’s what the hell I’m talking about, Ecuador!… That’s what I’m talking about, Ecuador! That is a fried chicken wing! That is fried chicken right there!”
Although some fans questioned whether the chicken was really as good as Speed claimed, his unusual antics and over-the-top reactions are well-known and keep audiences entertained. Speed has gained significant traction during his current tour, which he started after his Red Dead Redemption II streaming marathon. Other countries IShowSpeed plans to visit include Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and Peru.
