Here is a detailed guide on how to get all the Chocobo types of every location in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the vast and diverse world is made up of multiple regions. Getting around these places on Chocobos is much easier than walking on foot. Each region has its own specific Chocobo. Furthermore, some have unique traits that help you on specific terrain. In this guide, we will go through all the locations and how to get all the Chocobo types in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Grasslands Region (Chapter 2)
The first Chocobo you encounter is Piko, a standard yellow Chocobo with no special abilities. You encounter it during the main storyline in the Grasslands Region. To capture Piko, start the quest “Chocobo Wrangling,” in Bill’s Ranch. Follow the trail of footprints and feathers outside the ranch to reach the mission area. You need to sneak through tall grass, use rocks to distract other Chocobos and approach Piko from behind to catch it. This Chocobo is perfect for the open terrain in the Grasslands.
Junon Region (Chapter 4)
In Junon Region, you can come across Belle, a grey Chocobo with the ability to climb walls marked with special indicators. To capture Belle, complete the “Stuck in a Rut” side quest found at the Chocobo Ranch where you find Gabe. This mission involves a stealth sequence where you use minecarts to block the line of sight of other Chocobos. Once you successfully approach Belle from the back, an indicator will appear to capture the Chocobo. With the wall-climbing ability, Belle is very useful for exploring vertical landscapes of the Junon Region.
Corel Region (Chapter 7)
While exploring the Corel Region, you can acquire standard yellow Chocobos by purchasing a Chocobo Rental Pass from the Rent-A-Bird Stables near Costa del Sol. These Chocobos do not have any special abilities but are useful for fast travel across the area. Renting them is a convenient option for covering large distances quickly in the Corel Region.
Gongaga Region (Chapter 9)
The Gongaga Region introduces the green Chocobos, which can perform high jumps and slide through trees and mushrooms. These Chocobos become available as part of the main storyline after an encounter with Scarlet. Cissnei provides Tifa and Aerith with the green Chocobos to aid them during their time in the Gongaga region. The green Chocobos abilities make them ideal for navigating the dense jungle terrain of Gongaga.
Cosmo Canyon Region (Chapter 10)
Aponi, a teal Chocobo with gliding capabilities, can be found in the Cosmo Canyon Region. To capture Aponi, complete the “Bonds of Trust” side quest located near the starting area of Cosmo Canyon. This quest also involves a stealth sequence like last time where you push a cart along rails to block the line of sight of other Chocobos. Once you have successfully avoided detection, approach Aponi from the back to capture it. The Chocobos gliding ability allows the players to cross chasms and reach inaccessible areas in the Cosmo Canyon.
Nibel Region (Chapter 11)
The final Chocobo type is a blue Chocobo, Selena, with the ability to float and traverse in water. To capture Selena, complete the “Esoteric Secrets of the Elders” quest given in Nibelheim by the Chocobo Sage. This mission requires luring the Chocobo with bait through fields while avoiding the inflating cacti. If the Chocobo gets pricked by the cacti three times, it will run away. With Selena’s unique abilities, you can explore watery areas and hidden locations with ease in the Nibel Region.
With this guide, you can get all the Chocobo types in every region of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Chocobos aren’t just cute feathered mounts, they also enhance exploration capabilities of your party across various terrains.
