The final mission in the first chapter of Dynasty Warriors Origins is the Battle of Guangzong. This mission tasks the Wanderer to lead a battle and defeat Zhan Jiao and his forces. However, there is a catch. You need to force him and his army of Yellow Turbans to retreat in order to emerge victorious. Meaning, you only need to deplete his health low enough to force him to flee in battle. This hints that we will be seeing him again soon.

Here is a walkthrough guide on what you need to know about the Battle of Guangzong in Dynasty Warriors Origins.

Win and Defeat Conditions

  • You win the fight if Zhang Jiao flees from battle.
  • You lose the battle if either Dong Zhuo is forced to flee the battlefield.

The win condition for this mission is to fight Zhang Jiao and force him to retreat from battle. It’s going to be a tough journey as he has a large army backing him up. Make sure to stick with your allies at all times to keep their morale up and help them press forward.

Battle of Guangzong Walkthrough

This mission starts right after completing the Battle of Wan Castle siege. You will be heading to the next Expeditionary camp and get a cutscene before the battle starts.

1) Join Allies In Attacking Zhang Jiao’s Camp

After the siege in the Wan Castle, your allies will be heading north to attack Zhang Jiao’s camp. You will need to capture forts in order to reduce the effectiveness of enemy troops. There will be multiple camps on the map. It’s up to you whether you clear them out or head directly to the main camp where Zhang Jiao is.

2) Capture Forts

You can choose which fort you want to capture first. Try and stick close to your allies to keep them safe. However, if you are feeling confident, you can head first and try to clear enemies before your allies get overwhelmed. Make sure to help struggling allies to keep morale high. Zhang Jiao will buff the Yellow Turban troops making it easy for them to intimidate your allies if you are not careful. You also gain extra follow-up attacks like Battle Art Chains if you are close to a companion.

3) Get a Gauntlet Weapon

You can head to where Guan Yu is and fight Zhou Cang to get a gauntlet weapon. Make sure to time your Sp. Palm Strikes to make him vulnerable to counterattacks. Once you defeated the enemy, it is best to move out to other allies who need help. You can’t let them lose too much morale.

4) Face Zhang Jiao

If you defeat enough waves of Yellow Turban forces, you get a chance to encounter Zhang Jiao and duel him. What you need to do now is to reduce his health to 25% of the total amount. Once you do this, he will escape from battle.

It is recommended to clear out waves of enemies first to make it easier to fight him. The less interference from Yellow Turban troops, the better chance you can focus on taking him down.
