Former NBA basketball player Shaquille O’Neal challenged MrBeast to get stung by 500 Bees for a collab video.
YouTuber James “MrBeast” Donaldson appeared in an episode of The Big Podcast with Shaquille O’Neal. The former National Basketball Association (NBA) player said that he wanted to do a collab video with the YouTuber.
Shaq asked if MrBeast would get stung by 500 bees for a video. The YouTuber didn’t agree to the idea, but he brought up how he used to get stung by bees intentionally as a “good luck charm.” Donaldson had a superstition that getting stung by bees helped him hit home runs in baseball.
The two personalities discussed potential video ideas and talked about Donaldson’s content. Shaq also discussed MrBeast’s potential TikTok buyout. The YouTuber recently talked about buying the app following its temporary ban. Shaq revealed that he is also pursuing a business deal to acquire TikTok and is competing with the YouTuber.
Shaq Challenges MrBeast To Get Stung by Bees
The two personalities were discussing collab ideas. Shaq came up with an idea and asked MrBeast at the 47:00 mark in the podcast:
“Alright, MrBeast, I challenge you to get stung by 500 bees, and I’ll do it with you.”
The YouTuber immediately agreed and said “Okay.” He then recalled a childhood superstition about bees and baseball. Donaldson said:
“I would literally try to get bees to sting me before I went up to play (baseball). I wanted that bee power because that was the only home run I ever hit.”
While the YouTuber agreed to Shaq’s idea, he didn’t say if he would follow through with the Bees video idea.
Shaquille O’Neal Is Competing With Donaldson for a TikTok Buyout
During the recent podcast, Shaq and MrBeast talked about a potential TikTok buyout. On January 14, 2025, Donaldson told his audience that he is pursuing a deal with TikTok. The United States temporarily banned the app, and TikTok is now looking to sell its American business division. Donaldson is among the many buyers bidding for the app.

Shaq revealed that he is in the bidding war to acquire TikTok too. He is raising capital to purchase the app and allegedly outbid Donaldson. He said:
“I’ll be competing against you? Well, you’re a friend. I love your mom. I wouldn’t call it competing. I mean just, hey, two great guys doing business. And listen, if I win you get whatever you want. I know if you win, you going, you know, cut me in on some favors.”
