In a recent statement on X, popular Twitch streamer and former professional eSports player Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek referred to League of Legends superstar Lee “Faker” as “overhyped.” This comment has sparked significant reactions within the eSports community, with many fans expressing that Shroud’s remark went “too far.” Michael also stated that he cannot believe the public gives him so much praise. In his tweet, Michael stated:

“lowkey faker is so overhyped. can’t believe people give him so much praise zzz”

Shroud’s comments on the LoL icon confused fans, leaving many wondering if he had lost a bet:

“This is too far,” commented @MeteosLoL.

“what bet did you lose and who did you give the device to” wrote @EritoKaio.

“unironically not the worst opinion you’ve had,” stated @rattecs.

While Faker fans were enraged by Grzesiek’s comments and stated:

“Bro, Faker has an unparalleled record of success, including multiple World Championships and numerous other titles. That’s something you can only dream of buddy. Learn to show some respect.” stated @Prxgaurav.

“Yeah well, he has accomplished successfully more than you ever did so… pretty self explanatory.” wrote @Deadkenny00

Both Faker and Shroud have had extensive careers in eSports with multiple achievements under their belts. While Michael has found much success in streaming, he has since retired from the professional scene. Grzesiek played CS:GO professionally under the Cloud9 banner, where he achieved significant success. The streamer also briefly joined eSports team Sentinels to play Valorant under their banner.

Meanwhile, Faker is considered an icon in the LoL world. Lee has played under the T1 banner for several years. He has 5 world championship titles under his belt and is the only player in history to do so. He represented South Korea at the Asian Games, where he earned a gold medal. Faker is considered one of the best eSports players in the world and is backed by multiple accolades for the title.

Why Did Shroud Tweet About Faker?

The tweet took eSports fans and users on X by storm. The tweet currently has over 1.2 million views and over 12,000 likes. While many believed that it was Shroud tweeting, it was later revealed to be Tarik who tweeted the statement. Michael lost a game of Fear Pong on his Fragathon stream, after which he had to share his X account. Tarik took the opportunity to tweet it out, stating that the engagement will be great.

Shroud was live with the Fragathon streaming marathon where he pledged to donate $1 for every in-game kill or frag he achieved during the streams. The charity stream was dedicated to his late father. The streamer has raised over $600,000 as of this writing, which was initially the goal for the stream.
