The gaming community is waiting with bated breath as GTA 6 nears its planned launch by the end of 2025. The highly anticipated next entry into the Grand Theft Auto series comes 12 years after the initial release of GTA 5. While a lot of things have changed for Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take Two Interactive, since then, one thing seems to have stayed the same: the plan for the new game to launch on consoles only, at least at release.
While PC players estimate that GTA 6 will eventually release on PC, Rockstar Games hasn’t provided any timelines or official confirmations. However, now the CEO of Take Two, Strauss Zelnick, might have hinted at a PC version of the game.
GTA 6 PC: What Does Take Two Have To Say?
In an interview with IGN, Strauss Zelnick claimed that Take Two prefers not to release their titles simultaneously across all platforms. He further stated, “Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.” While he stopped short of outright confirming that the next Grand Theft Auto game would be heading to PC at some point, fans are construing it as a hint.
Zelnick next claimed that almost 40% of overall sales of multiplatform games are on the PC platform, and he doesn’t expect this trend to change anytime soon. This is a further hint that the company would like to take advantage of the PC market, especially with its most popular franchise.
However, for now, GTA 6 is only coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X sometime in late 2025. The Take Two boss made it quite clear that the game isn’t delayed, dispelling earlier rumors.
How Long Will Fans Have To Wait for a PC Version?
If the PC version of the next GTA game is in development, it could launch a few months or even a few years after the initial launch on consoles. If the PC version of GTA 5 is any indication, the sixth installment in the series could make its way to PCs more than one and a half years later. The console version of GTA 5 launched in September 2013, whereas the PC version landed in April 2015.
