Asmongold denied allegations that he had become the top political commentator on Twitch because of Twitch and DGG.

After United States President Donald Trump took office on January 20, 2025, Twitch streamer Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker claimed that Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt is now the number one political commentator on Twitch. Asmongold, who actively posts political content, denied Hasan’s claims. On February 15, 2025, Hasan doubled down on his take on several occasions and claimed that Kick streamer Steven “Destiny” Bonnell and Twitch helped Asmon become the number one political commentator on the platform.
Asmongold denied Hasan’s claims and said that he was not the biggest political commentator on the platform. The streamer said that Hasan was the biggest political content creator. Asmongold said he does both gaming and political content, while Hasan primarily does political content.
The streamer said that Destiny’s community hates him. He called out Hasan instead for being “the beneficiary of DGG” and said it was Destiny who helped Hasan find his place on Twitch. It led to back-and-forth comments between Asmon and Hasan against each other on their channels.
Asmongold Denies He Benefited From DDG and Twitch
During a recent livestream on February 16, Asmongold said that Hasan benefitted from Destiny’s community (DDG). The streamer explained:
“If you go over to Destiny’s subreddit, you’ll find that a lot of them really don’t like me either. So, this entire idea that the reason why I’m successful is because of Destiny, I find to be incredibly ironic from Hasan, because I think that Destiny really went out on a whim in 2018 to push Hasan and to platform Hasan.

Reverses it on Hasan

The streamer said Hasan should thank him for getting a platform on Twitch. A Twitch chatter claimed Destiny “made Hasan.” Asmon responded to the message saying:
“Destiny made Hasan? I’m not going to say that! I didn’t say that. All I’m saying is, there’s a lot of people that were, and Destiny himself, spent a lot of time actually promoting and trying to you know, bring Hasan into the political culture of Twitch.”
Asmon’s comments sparked multiple reaction videos between himself and Hasan over several days. They continue to debate who the biggest political streamer is on Twitch.
Hasan Claims Twitch and Destiny’s Community Helped Asmon Grow as a Political Commentator
During a livestream on February 15, 2025, Hasan rejected Asmongold’s claims about Twitch and the Destiny community. The streamer said that Twitch removed Hasan’s channel from the front page amidst the US election results. Hasan also feels that DDG brigaded and helped promote Asmongold. The streamer added:
“It is just crazy that like, what is declared good enough in terms of political commentary on the right wing side of things, that’s crazy. Hey, congratulations to the DDGers, DDGers, you did it! Number one political commentator on the platform, still going by the way. All the DDGers, you did it!”
In terms of viewership, Asmongold peaked at over 309,000 viewers in January. Meanwhile, HasanAbi had over 66,000 viewers. Asmon’s YouTube channel has a surge in political content, but he does not consider himself a political content creator. The two content creators have differing political views and continue to disagree on who the biggest political content creator in the space is.
