We have seen an ally recruiting system in the Yakuza franchise before. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii takes that core system without any notable new additions. However, that does not mean that it is not good by any means.

On the contrary, the recruitment system in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii fits perfectly with the premise of the game, which is Majima building his own pirate crew in Honolulu. It is evident that the developers took the approach of “don’t try to fix what isn’t broken,” and the game is better for it.

5 Best Recruits You Should Get Early In Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

The fan-favorite Goro Majima is the protagonist of the new installment in the Like a Dragon series. In the game, the beloved wild card Yakuza finds himself in the vibrant lands of Hawaii, and he decides to become a pirate, and a pirate needs a ship and a crew.

However, in this article, we won’t talk about ships, but we will indeed tell you about the Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii’s five best recruits so you can build a strong crew for Majima.

5. Kenzo

You will find the good-natured Kenzo on Aloha Beach. He is a simple carpenter, so he has quite a mild personality, unlike Goro or some other recruits on this list. When you talk to him, he will tell you that he has a contract already and he works for Dondoko Island. Now, if you are concerned about Kenzo’s affiliation with the island, then don’t worry; you can still recruit him. However, you will need to give him some materials and components before he joins Majima.

4. Nickelle Kidman

It is quite obvious from the start that Nickelle Kidman is a humorous take on the famous actress Nicole Kidman. She will be near Aloha Beach as well, similar to Kenzo, so you can recruit both of them together. The actress is excited for a role in a pirate movie and wants some real-life experience, so you won’t have to do much convincing before she joins Goro’s crew. However, you will need a pirate rank up to two stars in order to recruit her, which should not be an issue by that point in the game.

3. Obispo

Obispo is a chef, so naturally, he will ask you to eat at his restaurant before engaging in any recruitment negotiations. The restaurant will be on the north edge of Honolulu. But you don’t have to spend your hard-earned money on any of this food. Instead, simply buy five cheap drinks from him, and it would still count as eating at the restaurant. If you find yourself in a situation where you cannot heal anymore, go out and get hit by some thugs and then come back. After the drinks, he will join the crew.

2. Lumberjack Hayashida

You will be able to find Lumberjack Hayashida near Revolve Bar, somewhere around Fuji Street. Look for an individual sitting on a bench in an empty plot, and you will find your guy. He is a simple man, so give him some energy and stamina drinks, and he will join your crew. We have given him a spot this high on the list because Lumberjack Hayashida moves around with a chainsaw which makes him a great choice for an offensive member of the crew.

1. Kamulop

Kamulog is the mascot for the shrine near Fuji Street. Your first encounter with the mascot will be through a substory named Kamulop, Fortunes Unfolded. Once you complete that substory, it will unlock the Fortune Hunt side quest. You will need to find some discarded fortune cards around Honolulu to gain the points that come with them so you can use those points in Kamulop’s shop. Spend 20 points in Kamulop’s shop to recruit him.
