The new iPhone 16e and the iPhone 16 come with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, with few differences between them. The display on the 16e comes with the older notch-style design, while the iPhone 16 comes with the all-new Dynamic Island design on the display.

Additionally, the iPhone 16e reaches the typical brightness of around 800 nits and while viewing HDR content it can reach up to 1,200 nits, which results in a less vibrant visual experience under bright conditions.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 normally reaches 1,000 nits of brightness during typical use and has a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, which makes the viewing experience on the iPhone 16 much better.

Performance and Battery Life

Both the iPhone 16e and 16 come with the latest Apple A18 chip which performs very well on heavy demanding tasks and everyday daily tasks as well. The only difference between the iPhone 16e and 16 is that the A18 chip in 16e comes with a 4-core GPU, while the one in the 16 comes with a 5-core GPU, which makes it perform a bit better in graphics-intensive tasks like gaming.

Moreover, one of the significant advantages of the iPhone 16e is its battery life. Apple claims that the 16e can deliver up to 26 hours of video playback. However, the iPhone 16 can deliver up to 22 hours of video playback. The iPhone 16e comes with the all-new Apple’s first in-house C1 modem for 5G connectivity; reportedly, it is much more efficient and consumes less battery.

The iPhone 16 has support for MagSafe 25W wireless charging, while the iPhone 16e supports wireless charging but only up to 7.5W, and it does not have support for MagSafe.

Camera

When it comes to photography, both iPhones have a main 48MP camera that uses Deep Fusion technology and supports digital 2x zoom, which is done by zooming in on the 48Mp sensor. However, the iPhone 16 has an additional 12MP ultrawide camera, which helps increase versatility in photography. Other than that, the iPhone 16 camera also offers many more options for portrait mode and comes with a specialized camera control button.

However, the iPhone 16e does not come with an ultrawide camera, which gives it fewer shooting modes than the iPhone 16. Moreover, the iPhone 16 does have fewer camera controls and shooting modes compared to the 16.

Overall

With the A18 chip and new design, both the iPhone 16e and iPhone 16 are good choices. The 16e, with its longer battery life and lower price, is suitable for users who are looking for a budget-friendly Apple device with long battery life.

The iPhone 16 with a higher price tag offers a better camera, a brighter Dynamic Island display, and slightly better performance. For users who are looking for a better camera and an immersive viewing experience the iPhone 16 is a good option.
