Some creatures lurk in the depths, waiting for the right bait. Others only appear at night or during specific seasons. A hidden NPC, tucked behind an ice spike, holds a special surprise. The Green Energy Crystal, a key to the Heavens Rod, is yours if you find it. Fishing here requires preparation and patience. The cold drains your Heat and Oxygen, so dress warmly.
Finding the Frigid Cavern
The Frigid Cavern is one of four Bestiary locations in the Northern Expedition Island update. To get there, travel to coordinates (19848, 440, 5630) or move southeast from the Pickaxe camp. You will know you’re close when your Heat and Oxygen bars start depleting.
Inside, you will find a round pool of water, surrounded by rock and ice formations. The area is small, but it holds valuable catches. Look behind an ice spike on the north side of the cave to find “???,” a hidden NPC. Talking to them will grant you the Green Energy Crystal, which is necessary to obtain the Heavens Rod. This is a one-time interaction, so make sure to collect it before leaving.
