1) All Might Chooses Deku As His Successor
Though a “hype moment” is generally associated with action sequences, All Might’s inspiring dialogues and heartfelt interactions create excitement on their own. This was best seen at the very beginning of the series, where the Pro Hero ran into the protagonist, Deku.
Having seen the boy risk his life to save Bakugo from a villain, All Might was impressed by his actions. Hence, he told Deku, who was always self-conscious about lacking a Quirk, that he would become One For All’s successor.
This moment displayed the importance of a heroic spirit over simply having supernatural powers. It started All Might and Deku’s relationship, as well as the latter’s journey towards becoming a Pro Hero.
2) All Might Defeats All For One
All Might and All For One have one of the biggest rivalries in anime due to their clashing personalities and Quirks. While the hero had defeated the villain in the past, All For One returned while leading the League of Villains.
This led to their fated rematch, which was broadcast to the entire nation. However, since All Might had been injured in the past, he was facing an uphill battle. Despite his true form being revealed to the populace, All Might realized the burden of his role. Motivated to protect the citizens, he used the last remnants of his power to fight back valiantly.
With a devastating attack named United States of Smash, All Might pushed past injuries to beat All For One convincingly. In one of the most hype scenes in the series, he lifted his hand, signaling that the symbol of peace still stood. This intense confrontation between longtime enemies is considered one of the best fights in anime history.
3) All Might Reveals His Armored Form
In the Final War Arc of My Hero Academia, during the heroes’ last stand against Tomura and All For One, All Might was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for victory. While all his allies were busy, this weakened hero revealed an armored form, equipped with technological enhancements.
Declaring his signature “I Am Here!”, he set off on a brutal charge versus All For One, unleashing a barrage of attacks. This greatly injured the villain and bought valuable time, though the limitations of the armor eventually caused All Might to be captured.
Thankfully, All Might was prepared for death, but his disciple Bakugo arrived in time to save him. This sequence of events and the former top hero’s final battle against his nemesis is a moment My Hero Academia fans will discuss for ages.
4) All Might vs. Nomu
The first time fans got to see why All Might had the title of the strongest hero was during his battle against the League of Villains’ Nomu. When this antagonistic group infiltrated the U.A., they caused plenty of chaos, injuring both students and professors.
Despite not having his full power, All Might was enraged by this, stepping in to defeat multiple villains. At this point, he was faced with a Nomu, an adaptable and durable creature created to perfectly counter him.
This didn’t dishearten the Number 1 Hero but rather motivated him to surpass his limits. With a hearty shout of Plus Ultra, he delivered an explosive punch that sent the Nomu flying and foiled the villains’ plans. The sheer ferocity of this battle and All Might’s unparalleled mentality had fans on the edge of their seats.
5) All Might Fights Deku and Bakugo
All Might is an inspiration to an entire generation of heroes, but he shares a particularly close connection with Deku and Bakugo. Hence, seeing him face both youngsters during the Final Exams Arc was an extremely significant moment.
While Deku and Bakugo were busy arguing amongst themselves, All Might showed off his strength. He dominated the pair, continuously beating them up to force their evolution. His plan worked since Deku and Bakugo eventually started cooperating.
When All Might was busy dealing with Bakugo’s explosions, Deku snuck up on him and delivered a brutal full-powered punch. This stunned the top hero, allowing the pair to reach the escape gate and pass. Watching the development of the two main characters as they faced the man they aspired to be was a moment that captivated every viewer.
6) All Might Talks to Stain
Stain may be one of the most notorious villains in My Hero Academia, but he is also a beloved character. Having idolized All Might, Stain represents everything wrong with Hero Society. This laid the foundations for his conversation with All Might during the Dark Hero Arc.
All Might, who was helping Deku carry out his vigilante duties, was abandoned by the protagonist, left to wallow in his own helplessness. Right when he seemed to lose hope, he was confronted by Stain.
Stain questioned who the pitiful, frail man was, refusing to believe he was a hero. Rather than insulting him, however, Stain helped him see the light. He pointed All Might toward the people he helped save, making him remember that he was defined by much more than just his Quirk. This conversation was emotional and featured a long-awaited meeting between two fan-favorite characters.
7) All Might Fights the Sludge Villain
The very first hype moment in My Hero Academia followed the brief series of events with the Sludge Villain. All Might, who was tracking down this enemy, finally found him threatening Bakugo. Unfortunately, due to his waning power, he was unable to transform into his hero form.
At this point, Deku, who was clearly scared, jumped out, trying to save his friend. Seeing the bravery of the young boy, All Might finally bulked up and blew the villain away. This was the incident that convinced him to choose Deku as his successor.
8) All Might’s Speech at the Sports Festival
All Might has always delivered inspiring dialogues in My Hero Academia, but one particularly moving scene took place at the end of the Sports Festival. In the closing ceremony, he addressed each of the winners, sharing words of wisdom for Tokoyami, Shoto, and Bakugo.
