Comedian and actor Jake Whitehall attended the BRIT (British Record Industry Trusts) Awards 2025 and made fun of YouTuber Olajide “KSI” Olayinka Williams Olatunji’s viral song Thick of It. KSI’s song became an instant meme after a YouTuber posted it on his channel in 2024. The YouTuber reacted to Whitehall’s comments on his song and accepted that he got “cooked.”

Whitehall asked the event staff to play Thick of It at the awards show and sarcastically called it the “best song of 2024”. As soon as the song started playing, the comedian pulled out a giant buzzer with a red light and pressed it. Whitehall said the event didn’t have the time to play the song and moved on with the awards show.

Thick of It’s music video has an estimated 4.4 million dislikes, overshadowing the 1.6 million likes since its release. At over 100 million views, it is one of the KSI’s biggest uploads on YouTube, but the song received widespread criticism from fans and critics alike.

Jake Whitehall Roasts KSI’s Viral Son at BRIT Awards 2025

The BRIT Awards show celebrates notable works from the British music industry annually. Whitehall hosted the awards show in 2025 where he roasted KSI in front of over 20,000 people. The comedian said:

“Who wants to hear the song of the year, the Thick of It this evening? Yes! Let’s do it! DJ! Can we play the best song of 2024? Hit it, DJ!”

As soon as the DJ played the song, Whitehall picked up his mic and said:

“Sorry, I’m actually so sorry. I’ve just been told in my ear that we don’t have time for it. It’s lovely to have you here JJ (KSI).”

KSI’s content group Sidemen shared the clip online and the YouTuber tweeted about the show saying:

“I got cooked.”

Internet users started joking about his song saying that he deserved it. Since its release, the song has become a viral meme and it has been frequently parodied on YouTube and TikTok.

Why Do People Dislike Thick of It?

People initially criticized KSI’s song because it allegedly sounded generic and had too many repetitive lyrics. Most of the top comments criticizing the song on YouTube also called out the lyrics for talking about the YouTuber’s wealth instead of anything meaningful.

Another common criticism is the amount of Prime energy drink promotion in it. KSI and his YouTuber friend Logan Paul launched the Prime energy drink brand in 2022. United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) scrutinized Prime for allegedly being harmful.

The song became popular due to parodies and memes around it and later generated over 100 million views. While internet users might not enjoy the song, it has become a part of internet culture and was responsible for countless memes in 2024.
