Go through our to find out how you can tackle the Water Temple mission in Split Fiction, which is a quest in Chapter 5.

The Water Temple is the second mission in Chapter 5 of Split Fiction. It takes place just after Mio and Zoe have managed to unlock the temple’s doors and successfully hatch the dragon eggs they were given in the last mission. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can complete the Water Temple mission in Split Fiction, with help for all challenges and puzzles in the level.
How To Begin the Water Temple Mission in Split Fiction

After you open the Water Temple in the last mission, Zoe and Mio will venture inside and find a dragon statue with two empty nests in front of it. They will have to place their dragon eggs in these nests. This will trigger a cutscene that shows the dragons hatching. The creatures will immediately befriend the two women and climb into their backpacks. The voice from the dragon statue claims that Mio and Zoe will need to rely on these dragons to get to the next section. Both girls will then get on a boat and start rowing. This is where the mission starts.

Mio and Zoe will have to paddle across the water. Keep in mind that the boat still moves forward when you stop paddling, but at a much slower pace. Soon, the current will pick up and cause your boat to travel through some terrifying rapids. Make the necessary directional adjustments at this point. Keeping calm is the best way to get through this section unscathed. Oh, and did we forget to mention that the Megalith will ambush you while you’re rowing?
However, soon you’ll reach a point where your boat will break apart and throw both Zoe and Mio forward. Mio will slide down a platform, while Zoe will get stuck on a tree branch. As Mio comes to the edge of the platform and risks falling down, the game will prompt players to use the wings of their tiny dragon to glide the short distance to safety. As for Zoe, she’ll eventually untangle from the tree and rush down the same slope. When she falls off, a QTE will trigger, where both Mio and Zoe will need to press down on the same button.
However, this QTE always fails. As Zoe begins falling, her dragon will use its tail to grab the leafy wall and let her climb up. The next section has some platforming, allowing Zoe and Mio to navigate differently using the glide and sharp tail powers of their respective dragons. Mio’s dragon can help her glide for longer distances using geysers in the area. At the end of the platforming section, both characters will eventually reach a cave.
Navigating the Cave

The cave also has a challenging platforming section, where you can fall into the rapids below and die if you’re not careful. Use the respective dragon abilities to make your way forward. You’ll also come face-to-face with three pillars, one of which is shorter. This short pillar also goes underwater at regular intervals. So, you’ll need to time those jumps properly to avoid dying.
After that, you’ll come to a large lever mechanism and a red platform. Mio’s player must stand on the platform first before Zoe uses her dragon ability to pull down on the lever and raise the red platform for Mio to cross over and open the door forward. Inside the door, Zoe will latch onto the ivy just below a platform, and Mio will climb on top. As soon as Zoe lets go, Mio will slingshot her way across the gap and near a panel that releases a hook. Zoe will rely on this hook to move across the gap.
In the next area, you come across a side story orb sitting on the cliff above the two golden balls in the area for the “Slopes of War” side quest. However, if you want to continue the main story, jump across the golden balls and keep going up until you come across a geyser. You can also take part in the stone-skipping minigame in this section.

Branching Paths for Mio and Zoe

After a bit of platforming, Mio and Zoe will reach a section with two branching paths. Zoe has to take the right path, while Mio takes the left. Each path will have a specific platforming section requiring the respective dragon abilities. Zoe will finally reach a water wheel with thorns, and she’ll get stuck there.
Mio will find two columns in front of her, and she needs to jump on either one to rotate the water wheel where Zoe is stuck. Constant communication will help Mio turn the wheel just enough for Zoe to avoid the thorns and move forward. After this, a bit more platforming follows, after which you arrive at the main puzzle in the Water Temple mission in Split Fiction.
Zoe will need to step on a trigger with a smiley face sign. This will lead to a geyser erupting. Mio needs to use the geyser to reach a leafy wall and use her dragon abilities to climb up. On this platform, Zoe has to jump on the right triggers at the right time to ensure that Mio is launched from one wall to the next. There are six symbols in total that Zoe has to trigger in the right order.
The following is the order to follow:
- Step 1: Step on the trigger that resembles a boomerang.
- Step 2: Next, jump on the trigger that resembles a gold club before Mio falls in the water.
- Step 3: Zoe will then have to stand on the Bowl-like symbol for Mio to travel to the next area.
- Step 4: The last section will have two symbols that will remain covered. You need to coordinate with your partner to make sure you stand on the symbol whose geyser will remain open when Mio reaches it.
If you manage to do this correctly, Mio and Zoe will be reunited. Finally, they can move on to the next mission.
