Learn how to host lobbies and join games—both online and locally—with friends across multiple game modes in WWE 2K25.
Adding to its multiplayer options, WWE 2K25 has given players several requested features along with the puzzling addition of The Island. However, the game remains a blast to play with friends, whether online, locally, or through MyGM and The Island modes.
This guide will walk you through the different ways to set up multiplayer matches, from creating private lobbies to battling it out in online sessions.
Online Play
In the lobby, scroll to the third section: “Online.” Select “Lobbies,” join an existing lobby that your friends have created, or create your own. In case there are too many games listed or you’re having trouble finding them, try refreshing and using the search feature.
When creating your own lobby, choose the match type; depending on it, you can choose how many players will participate. For most matches, these include “One on One,” “Triple Threat,” and “Fatal 4-Way.” Select the arena and the match rules.
Now you have successfully created a lobby. If you want it to be available to any players online, you can make the lobby public. If you’re only playing with friends, it is better to keep it private. After choosing your character, select the plus symbol on the empty panel(s) to your right and invite your friends. At a time, the game can host four players in a match.
Local Play
To play locally, you will need multiple controllers connected to the console or your PC. From the home screen, select “Play,” the match type, and the number of wrestlers. In the lobby, assign the available controllers to the panels, and start wrestling!
MyGM
To play MyGM with your friends online, select the MyGM mode and choose local play or online play. There are additional features available for local play, like using custom GMs, playing matches, spectating matches, and custom rosters.
If you select “Play Online,” you can join an existing lobby or create your own and invite your friends. If you are playing locally, choose the “Add Player” panels with your controllers one by one to select your GM and brand. You can fill any remaining slots with computer players to add to the chaos.
WWE 2K25 has added some useful MyGM multiplayer features. These include loading your online save file locally, having players take over bots in your games, and vice versa.
The Island
The Island sessions can host up to 50 players at a time on the same map, so you can definitely play and hang out there with your friends. The way to do this is to join a session and invite your friends with the “Who’s Online” section in the menu.
You can also invite players for a wrestling match in districts like the Deadlands. On launch, The Island is not available for PC players and can only be accessed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players.
